It is a fs 130 r it was dead on arrival and filthy from setting in dirt floor shed for two years,
A valve adjustment, air filter, spark plug, fuel lines, primer bulb, timing belt and a good pressure washing brought it back to life.
It is absolute blast to use and have NEVER used a trimmer with this much power its 36cc with 1.9 hp.
what a monster. Here it is after repairs and clean up.

How do you like the fs130 compared with your Redmax?

i like both equally well the redmax is lighter and makes good power but it is not ever close to the fs 130, The redmax is primarily for well maintained yards light trimming duty the fs130 is for yards that are overgrown or cutting brush. I do need the fs 130 for yards that i pick up that are over grown because my redmax can't handle really thick stuff.

That's a good model to have nice score ,on the guard down below i took the 4 bolts out of mine and moved the guard back to the furthest 2 bolts ,makes the string 1 inch longer when it trims off ,makes a whole different machine with little longer on the line .

i thought so to boy it is heavy though.

Well-known preserve, where a couple of us volunteer, has a late version of that model. We'd use it as a brushcutter, for reclaiming overgrown jungle. Well, we tried using it, besides our own brushcutters, just not for long. Just way too heavy & inflexible, but its harness is a real piece of work. Opinion of multiple folks who've tried it is that it's suitable only for cutting low to the ground, moved only like a scythe, side-to-side. Super-tiring.

Bottom line to us- it's really of no use for our purposes. Much more useful: 21 cc Echo antique or 27 cc Tanaka. We're waiting on pickup of a 25 cc Husqy from up in Shokan. We only use steel blades, from 3- and 8-tooth "knives" to 20- or 40-tooth carbide and chainsaw-cutter blades, getting into 6-10 foot high tangles of weeds/tree seedlings/multiflora rose. The 10' stuff is best started on with "Clip-N-Trim" bolt-on on 14" bar, on polesaw. We mulch it all in place- simplest tactic we've tried. None of this obviously would lend itself to use of line-head.

The 130 in question seems to have pretty mediocre fuel-endurance with the vaunted 4-stroke, compared to the 2-strokes mentioned.

I have had one for 3 years. I put a head on it that takes 13-14" sections of .155 line.

I cut weeds and thick grass/ ditches with it. Really like how smooth it is. I don't have any other trimmers to compare it to.

I have an fs250 true 2 stroke modified to accept the kombi attachments. That thing screams, but you better be ready to take some shrapnel. Also vibes are worse than the 130. I have the bike handle 130, and the harness is confusing at first. Gas lasts long enough for me, usually ready for string after a tank.

i use .130 line with the autocut c25-2 head. easy on fuel and lots of power.
