how bout pistachio shells?
they are more delicious and I have enough on the passenger side floor of my truck to blast several saws I imagine

Walnut shells are a good alternative, not as abrasive.

This is what they are using as grit in hand cleaners . it isn't as hards on plumbing pipes is drains .

I have my sandblast cabinet in the basement, so I always use walnut shells, or metal shot. The walnut shells make some dust, but at least it's not dust that will kill you.

I used some years ago but don't have any now. Might be worth getting some more to try.

I did.

Took forever to clean a chamber and didnt do much for the outside of the jug.

What about just lining the cylinder with a sheet of tin or thin Aluminum . Size it up around a mandrel and slide it down the cyl. Piece of take to hold it in place and blast away.

Anyone else always glass bead a jug before porting?

yep!! i blast them inside and out and thru the ports and all. a bloody good wash with brake cleener afterwards.. a drop of oil of plug thread and havent had any problems to date!

That blasted jug looks fantastic. You get my vote for the cleanest finger ports I've even seen.

Any of you guys tried spraying some Hi-Temp clear on a Cyl after blasting.
I'm just thinking if your taking the time to clean them up. It might help keep'em cleaner.

I did that on my Edelbrock Aluminum car intake and it worked great, but yellowed over the years.
