Its a safety thing for when they film crash scenes. Violent crashes with multiple flips/rollovers are filmed with most anything that can come off and become a projectile removed. Alot of times the doors/trunk are also welded shut. There has been a whole slew of movies that viewers have picked out the mods. Much like the cardboard engine in the final crash scene of “The fast and the furious”. The Charger is a 318 with a cardboard supercharger sticking out of the hood.
