If it is a 98 it could be a bunch of different calibers
Not many calibers in that configuration, the stock with the sling swivels on the bottom looks like the Argentine 1909 variation 7.65x53 cal. however there is no magazine hanging down in front of the trigger gaurd.
The 98k slings mounted through the buttstock from the side, these were 7.92x57 cal (8m/m).
I suspect some 98s may have been chambered for the 7x57, but most of those were small ring model 93 & 95. the one pictured certainly looks like a large ring 98.

I have the 98 action on a custom gun in 375 H+H. and 6.5x55
Do have a 8 mm in original,30.06,.22 training gun matching serial numbers.
Have a couple ratty ones that I may blow the barrels up for wall hangers

Not the .22
It's from the German army for training when they where getting short on the 8mm and ammo,near the end of the war.
The .06 may have been re-barreled but came in military dressing
