Are there any fuel cans out there that are any good? I absolutely hate the styles available today! The expand and contract and if you go to fill a saw and don't relieve the pressure look out! So has anyone found some good ones? What are you using? I left this one out over night and it got into the 40's!

I been running the same dozen or better, old school, non-EPA, 2.5-5-10 gal plastic and metal gas cans with rear vents for years. I guess most folks use those Jill's Jugs or whatever they are, seen some talk about them anyhow on different threads. Don't know if they'll eliminate the expansion/contraction problem or not, but might be worth a try.

First thing I do on cans like that is drill a hole in the top/rear portion of the handle and install a big 1" long wood screw that I can remove or install with my fingers. You can attach the screw to the handle with a piece of thin wire or string if you are afraid of losing it when you are pouring.

One day an engineer decided to build a better gas can, and from that day forth they have been garbage. You can't even buy a proper spout for them anymore.

I bought a couple of 5-gal kerosene cans last year that were the new-fangled EPA chit. Immediately walked back over to the aisle and purchased the conversion, non-EPA spouts, got'em home, replaced the spouts, drilled and reamed a .490 vent hole in the top rear, snapped in and sealed in place the 1/2" vent that came with the conversion spouts. Sent the chit EPA spouts to the landfill with the trash.

No conversion kits up here - can't be undoing .gov's handywork you see. However, I am going shopping on the Bay and see what I can find.
If you can't find any for your mfg of can, let me know. Local hardware stores here have them by the dozens for various mfg's cans.

Love my No Spill Jill.

Another vote for No-Spill.

However, PA Dan, they do expand and contract, and you need to relieve the pressure or they will spray fuel everywhere. So don't purchase them thinking they won't.

The best idea to fix the new plastic EPA jugs I've seen a is drill a 1/2" hole in the rear of them then fish a rubber valve stem thru it and install the valve stem and leave the valve core out and open the valve cap to vent as needed.

I did the same to my plastic gas cans. I drilled the hole and installed a short rubber valve stem with guts removed. Works perfectly. But I also have a 5 gallon plastic Sunoco Race Fuel can. Paid $33 for it at my local race track. And I have a 2 gallon no spill can that works well too.
