Cool. I didn't know that Kevin. I thought just the BB was tested.
That’s probably because Jason isn’t on here, and most of the info was kept to his group on Facebook. If a guy just wanted something to bolt on, I’d say it’s pretty good for that

He did have it tested on Joe’s dyno, I believe. I’m sure he can answer for certain, but I believe the bark box added just a little bit and Jason’s cover added .5 to .6 hp.
Nice I thought that’s what was being said. That’s a great gain

Cal me shallow but I can’t get over the appearance. If it made power you’d still have to hide it somehow within an original muffler similar to putting a paper bag over the other half’s head!
Sticks out farther then the spikes. Would imagine that might be a problem if you actually use the saw

Difference in operator.

We both thought the stihl "felt" faster...

Same saw with the Straight Shot, defiantly faster, but much louder, I had him turn the other way as I didn't have muffs.

Funny thing happened this last fall. Mud, Rain, Snow. No "wide open' mufflers for me. Had one saw roll off the bucket, jammed mud right in the muffler tube. FORTUNATELY for me I saw that and took off the muffler before running that saw again & how I build mine meant while it got IN it didn't pack into the exhaust outlet. AND they got snowed on, often. Also day in day out cutting stumps reaffirmed to me the outlet direction matters and also keeping the muffler behind the spike or ITS a bucking spike therefore mashed :) B the end most of my "cool built saws" ended up in the truck and a stock 565 was the main saw. One other "blue" one crept in for blocking and topping ( not dropping ) the resultant trees, but that will be a later video. :)

I didn't think it was so funny (edit, this just happened 2 days ago, the wounds are fresh lol) when I had an 18"x10' log roll of the pile, looked and there was the 462 .
Need a brake flag and a handlebar now, at least that's all I see so far, it's still working fine so...

not really sure just see a lot of talk on fb about them Honestly have never used one but looks like a similar design sure looks heavier built anyway
I myself know nothing substantial about the MS500i, but I'm thinking that heavy front cover makes a great heat sink for a better more consistent performing saw.
That 500's processor can definitely work with that.

My interpretation from Joe’s DIY muffler video was that the crack pipe didn’t do much more than a can muffler would with the same size outlet. Maybe the power curve was more level? I think the proportions and geometry need explored more though. The diameter of the pipe, length and location of the 90 degree could all have significant change on performance.
