I had sort of a double testing session today. My first port job on my 036 Pro, and tried some EXL that I bought from a forum member.
The only thing I did to the chain was take 3 light licks off the rakers, It was the OEM shaprening on the cutters.
I have to admit, I was impressed!
It cut very, very well in crosscut and noodling.
This was one of the very few chains that I did not sharpen right out of the box.
The gullet was pretty deep and it had a nice downward angle. Not as much that I file in to the cutters, but it cut extremely well

Oh, the saw ran like a fool!! Me likey!

I’d like to try a loop or 2 but no one in my area has it. Where were you able to find some. Thanks!:)

Hallo. I Order from frawleys saw shop. I love the exl/Exj chain, mutch easyer to file than Stihl chains. I usually Square file this chain and very good performance. And hold ups good.

Full House. No space between teeth. Popular with chainsaw carvers for its smooth non grabby characteristics.
Smart man! :)

I need to find time and inspiration to play with that loop.
I don't yet know what to do to it to make it perform better for bucking.

Use full comp chain!
. . .
You will find it is very smooth in the cut but slower because of chip clearance issues.
It is a play chain.
I have no desire to try utilizing it as a work chain, way too valuable to ruin it! ;)

I have a regular Full Complement EXL that has been square filed.
I just like posting pictures of my Full House loop as it tends to baffle people when they see it. :D

I gotta brag about this first loop of EXL. Still have not sharpened it and it still cuts really well.
It's getting close to a sharpening though, but I'm afraid of screwing it up!!

I know it was not that long ago that Oregon introduced LGX, my old favorite, to .325. Anyone know if they will bring EXL to .325?

LGX came out back in 2005 or 2006 if I remember right.

No .325 EXL but there is now a 20 series .325 LGX chain.

Yes, I understand. But, since EXL has taken the place of LGX as the top dawg. why not just jump to EXL for .325 also?
