Hello, folks. This is the first bit of anything firewood related, for probably just over a year. I think it's choke cherry? I guess I've been slacking a bit, since I'm years ahead. Need to get back at it.

Scored a load of Hickory today, there was 2 different types, one of which I haven't seen before (Hickory is very rare for me) was wondering if anyone here has seen this kind before and knew what it's called? (One with dots) im 99% sure the other one is Shagbark Hickory

Windfall from my cousin's place a whopping 2 miles for this scrounge. He helped load n unload for bonus points. 5 loads of pine, 1 left of better maple for tomorrow. The pine actually hit a house poked a hole in the eave.

Did a bit of dead and downed scrounging today. This was the results, a mixed litter kinda!
The big rounds are 2 yr old red oak and rest is some loucust/hackberry tossed in fer good measure.

Heat, sedentary life, and humidity helped run the old heart rate and metabolism up rather quickly!

Its hardness is similar to Red Oak/Ash. It burns better than anything else we have around here, such as cottonwood, poplar, willow, and softwoods. The Russian olives around here can get amazingly huge.
