Only way I'd make it into splits is by chainsaw. It'd never make in onto my property anyway but gunpower or tannerite sounds fun.
Tested some saws in Japanese elm once. Cut that slippery stuff a few times. I'll pass. Trash wood like willow and sweet gum.
Heard sweet gum makes good boards. Is that true?

o_O you guys must not have a hydraulic splitter. I'll take all the elm and shag bark hickory I can. Burn time is great in the o.w.b. Have never had a issue splitting any of it. Only issue I ever had with elm was a monster 4ft yard tree. Couldn't lift 16" rounds with my little yanmar tractor. Had to drive my 65hp case 6-7mi to pick it up. Took 20min or so. Only issue I've ever had with the stuff.

Your just used to *s-word wood. We got oaks and stuffs here all over the place. Plus...I don't like to clean out ash every other day. Red oak or better ftw!
I'd burn dog *s-word if it was delivered and burned good. Ymmv

I'll take mulberry over oak most times if I need good burn times and better heat.

My stack is shaping up quiet nicely. Filled in everything I’ve brought in to burn this year. In 2 years and beyond I’m going to be sittin’ pretty!

At the point beyond the middle covered part, it’s this far above my head. Rest is a little over 6’.
