Nice job Ryan. How's that GB splitting maul lasting you?
Always amazes me when you swing that and the point just bounces off like you hitting it with the flat side.
You also split that into kindling wood. Lol

I think those are regular size splits, they just look small compared to the piece they're coming off of. I did the math, and I think that piece was like 600+#.

The gransfors bruks is great. It's in fantastic shape after several years of extensive use. It has been mostly retired since I bought my Wolfe Ridge splitter though.

I bet. Those round of red oak are no joke. I always try and split right through the center. Once its split in half the rest is easy. Lol. I prefer to be symmetrical.
But I do like to see the different styles of splitting done by all of us.
I like to hand split as long as I still can do it. Gets rid if my frustrations.

I try to hand split as much as possible. But I just use a fiskars cause the cheap and effective.20201102_180021.jpg Got this little reminder of the only time I handled a GB axe. Was at the Gettysburg gun show and they weren't happy to have some guy bleeding on there floor .

I'm lucky to have both, the GB maul and the x27. Honestly, if I'd bought the x27 first, I probably wouldn't have bought the GB. However, the GB is far superior in terms of comfort, handsomeness, and it doesn't have those annoying "cheeks" that the x27 does. They're always getting stuck in a partially split piece. Still a great tool and incredible value.

I bought X27 first, then bought the GB Splitting Axe. Liked it so much, I eventually bought GB Splitting Maul...
The GB are far superior, but the X27 is a good splitter as well...
