Damn!! Don't tell me those are Dolmar candies.....? If the Dolmars come supplied with their own candy in the box, there's no wonder why they're all so bootylicious....
So, I'm just gonna ask the question everyone wants to know... How much for the mug? Or the hat..... Or the multi tool.... Hell, how much for the candy....? Lol
:D..the mug went to a customer for a 9010 along with the multi tool... Oh yes ...the 420 came with a mug of lemon candies ... Saw-weeeet !!

Well with a 28 on the 7900 we did some damage in the forest. 18-24in dead standing fir.
Saw is nice, hate the limited coil!!! Its has different egronomics.
Found I was cutting a bit crooked,, took a bit to sort that out, not as strong as my 064,, but the dolly has had only 2-3 tanks thru her.
7900 cut most of this, modded 353 did the smaller.

In wood. It will burbles right before it hits the limiter. When you let pressure off in the cut.

Haso anyone experienced their dolmar jumping the rev limiter? Both my 6100 and 421 have. The 6100 twice and the tach read over 15,000 and screaming lean. And the 421 once but did not have the tach on it. Both seem like it goes extremely lean and screaming right past the limiter.
Thoughts? @Miller Mod Saws @fordf150 anyone?

Without a tach ....I go way rich on the H jet and then come into the limiter ...then go a little way back into the rich to set it.

They will get a little leaner on a warmed up motor...iv had a flick up to 14100 on the 420 in free rev check but i dont think there is something there to get concerned about "Unless" it is a constant figure...then i would check carb settings.

Sounds about what I had in the end.
Thanks for the tips guys, I like fat beats lean and I run40/1.
I have an old Stihl tach I will take next outing,, may spring for a new B/C as well, probably 22-24 as that covers most of what we cut here. . Chain for sure. Do you run one less drive link on your chains???
Just sold a cord and a bit,,,,I dont normally sell,,but these two come to my door and pay very well.

Dolmar branded Oregon 20" bar takes 72DL's from new till teeth less, works with 7 & 8 tooth sprocket.

Iggesund Forrest 36" bar takes 115DL's, haven't worn out a loop yet, nor have I tried a 8 tooth sprocket.

Both setups are 3/8" .058" in my case.

Wilhelm that Dolmar D009 20" bar with Dolmar 3/8 058 72dl bar and chain is a very good match I like this combination

I see Grube are selling iggesund bars how do you like them

Yes, I like the 20" B&C setup on my big girl's!
I am ogling a 24" Oregon bar for my PS-7900, but I don't really need it.

I only have the 36" Iggesund Forest R2 bar.
It is solid steel, quite heavy, makes my PS-7900 very nose heavy and out of balance.

This setup rarely see's any usage thus far, but the bar appears to be made very well while having been quite affordably priced.

I wish I had a 20-28" Iggesund Forest bar, it would see a lot more work!

I can not remember without looking into my receipts, but I got my Iggesund Forest bar either from Grube or DreiAchtel.

I have a jred 24 and sandvik 28, the sandvik is close to out of adjustment. The jred is good to go.
The Jred bar got a new chain today 84 DL and both are parked on the 7900.
The chain here is $37,,taxes in, its a small town!!! Pretty sure its cheaper in the city,, will check next time,
I guess I gotta go back in the woods,,,

Looks like you might have took a shine too that saw how do you like the 3/8 chain on the 5105
I can answer this with more actual information now iv had some run time Andrew.
For me I think i would swap over to .325 from 3/8.
This is the reason.....

Photo0898.jpg

The same 7 pin drive on both sprockets but higher gearing on the 3/8 7 pin. I feel it takes the motor into a lower RPM band "easier" than on the smaller.325 7 pin.
The saw can cope admirably due to the torque it has, but you need to be lighter on the dogs to manage the rpm or let the saw self feed more .
I was mostly getting 8700-9700 rpm range with the 3/8 on fill chisel and the saw would easily hold 1oooo-11000 range with the .325 on full chisel. I feel the motor gives you a better speed of cut even though the gearing is effectively "Lower" as it will hold a higher RPM under most conditions and wood I tried . This motor wants to rev and has a broad power/torque band "IMO" that i believe you can use better with the .325 set up.
I will try a 8 pin .325 at some point for reference.

It's very rare they come in 3/8 I've had a ps-500 come with 3/8 but never used a 5105 or a 115 on 3/8 only .325 it does run nice on the 8-pin but you oughta have some 050 to play with

Wonder why they sent this one on 3/8 ...The fact I can swap the bars and chain combo's from the small bar mount Husqvarna's is nice. Think il stick with 1.5mm bars as i have so many things using them . All my early dollys are on 3/8 but as there on spur sprockets it was a faf to swap to .325....much better on the 5105 having the rim sprockets.

From what I gathered reading other members opinions and preferences the Dolmar PS-7900 should "feel" best with a 24-28" bar, thus Yours should be set up very well.

What chain brand are You buying, loops or off a roll?
Dolmar and Oregon are also very expensive in Croatia and Germany, but Carlton is priced fairly.
A Carlton chisel 72DL loop is ~20Euro in Croatia and ~23Euro in Germany, a 115DL chisel loop (36") is ~36 Euro in Germany.
I couldn't get a 115DL in Croatia, all the shops were stumped and asked me "What Ya need that for?!".
For reference, here in Croatia having a loop made off a roll ends up being more expensive than sourcing and buying a factory loop, that is why I don't support the local shops - greedy a-holes.

Ebay (Germany) has TriLink chains off the roll, 10Euro for a 72DL.
I agree that shipping (15Euro to Croatia) is a buzz kill, but purchasing a few loops makes it a worthy alternative - I got 5 loops in one order making each loop cost 13Euro to my doorstep.
Personally I am not very impressed with the chisel TrilLink loop I am currently using, I can't get it to self feed properly. The only advantage is that for whatever reason it doesn't seem to mind to cut through logs entirely covered in dry dirt.
My PS-7900 handles the chain well non the less.
See PM! ;)

Best chain I used on my Dolmar PS-6400 & PS-7900 so far are Dolmar branded Oregon (099) and Oregon 73 - but as said they are priced the highest.

5105's in 3/8 is pretty common here. May just be a regional thing to us.

Over here they seem too put it on the semi-pro and farmers saws
The profi saws are usually .325 058
