Are the Makita saws made in Germany ? , I see they are going from blue to orange .

Power wise does the 6400 run much better than the 6100 ? , noticeable weight on the 6400 .

I think most of the Makita line of saws is made in Germany. The ones you hear talked about here anyways. I think some of their smaller saws are coming from Japan or China, though. But I could be completely wrong.

Still available in Germany!
Just saying. :)

Nearly impossible to be disappointed in a PS-7900!
Tune her right below 13.5k WOT (I have mine at 13.4k), make sure Your bar is true, and sharpen Your chain to specs with a file guide or grinder (You can lower the rakers a bit more if You are using a "shorter" B&C setup) and there should not be any disappointments whatsoever!

Oddly, I never switch my saws air intake to winter (warm air from the cylinder) and I haven't encountered a frozen carb yet.

And in the spirit of this thread, Dolmar PS-6400 with 20" B&C sitting on one of last years oak firewood tree trunks:

I put a larger bar on and sharpened the chain I use a Pferd that does rakers at the same time, I have had very good luck with it.
It seem the other chain was rocked slightlly on one side, must have done that last Feb.
May go out this week as I have spotted a victim, standing dead fir.
Thanks for all positive stuff guys!

Photo0888.jpg Photo0889.jpg Photo0894.jpg Photo0890.jpg Ok then...though you may like to see if there is any spec difference in a Ero 5105 c and a USA 5105.
What is in my box was a little more that some get but it comes with a 3/8 .58 15 in bar and 2 full chisel chains /oils/hat/tools/scabbard as standard.

Under the hood we have a choice of filters and NO limiter caps .

Ass Fever overcame me as well. This box arrived yesterday. You got a lot more stuff in your box than I did. The one item you received that I have to have is the hat - so pro. Here is a couple of pictures including the obligatory rump shot.

Am I reading that scale right, they weigh the same? The overweight Dolmar.....
I figure its not a bad match due to the 346 having the heating and the dolly having the easy start case. Both options make the saws a scoootch more than without.
Regardless.... I like um both.
