Air leak?
I think I would check it anyway, that's two cylinders down, you wouldn't want a third. Doesn't take too long for a pressure/vac test, or cost too much, and is good assurance/insurance.

Absolutely, normally I would have checked before it got the first cylinder. However in this case they said that a while back they had bad gas and it scored 3 of their saws. This one apparently still ran with scoring up to the point they brought it to me for hard starting. with that in mind I replaced it and since it wasn't running lean I assumed it'd be okay. I retuned it a decedent bit rich this time around just in case.

This discussion once again highlights that quality parts are the exception, not the norm. What's amazing is that the Big 3 can churn out thousands of cylinders with barely a failure.

That’s bad plating and possibly a cylinder out of round. Make Baileys take any meteor jug you bought from them back. There are a lot of good used oem XT jugs out there. No reason to roll the dice on AM.

Unfortunately it's all about how fast you can get the parts with the fire saws. They ask that when possible we have everything turned around in 24 hours which makes sourcing used parts and often new parts difficult.

The big 3 don’t have Chinese quality-control. That’s all it is, aside from potentially a lack of how to do it correctly in the first place

Very true. I wonder what percentage of Stihl/Husqvarna/Echo cylinders don't pass QC. I really wonder what kind of products the Chinese build for themselves. I'm sure most of their good brands are tightly regulated by the CCP as to exports.

I’ve had the opposite on meteor jugs, but I only used the 460 52mm ones. The plating was impossible hard to get through and thick. Toughest I’ve ever dealt with.

I guess their QC just isn’t so great.

That’s kinda what I was thinking I remembered others on here saying. As long as you aren’t trying to port them the plating was good.
