Looks like a fun one for sure Steve. Here is the barber chair pic. It didn't pull off with my tractor. But didn't take long to cut enough limbs off to get a better pull on it.
Tree kicked my rear. Hauled four good loads out managed to get stuck twice, broke one chain pulling logs and got a flat on the truck. Made for a long day

You kept it out of the water, and nobody died. That's a win in anyone's book.I'm all ears for a better way to go after ones that you really can't make a face cut on. If you or anyone else has a ace up their sleeve I'd like to hear about it. Was more fun than should be allowed.
I should've waited another year to see if it would fall on it's own. I know damaged trees are unpredictable at best. But I decided to go after it. Tried to be as cautious as possible.
Wonder if I had too much pull on it and that caused it to chair as bad as it did? Don't know but hope it's the last one like that I encounter.

Think of a tree like a metal pipe: the outer edge is really the strongest part, and the only part that matters. Judge the crown weight and lean, cut a notch like usual, plunge and set a decent hinge, and cut the trigger and get the hell outta there.I'm all ears for a better way to go after ones that you really can't make a face cut on. Even when things are good or ideal conditions, sometimes things hiccup, but those fire burnouts like that are definitely among the worst case scenarios. Most likely would have done the same thing no matter what. So I'd say you probably dislike it right. Main thing your not hurt and here still. Good job AmigoI 100% agree. I just didn't think there was enough meat to attempt a face cut. The tree was already burnt most the way through. I only took real short nips out of the back side and only took a few before she went. Might have tried it if I could have made the cut lower. But there was fence wire in the lower portion of the trunk. Hence the higer cut.
But yeah I didn't like that tree from the start. Just happy it went the way it did. My last hazard tree for a long time hopefully.
