Here's mine, I fail to see any difference in how the carb mounts. Can anyone fill me in on this?

Boot came through the plate, then the metal "shim", then gasket, then carb.

The more I look at it, the more I think you could use either boot with either carb box as long as you have the correct shims/gaskets for the boot you're using. Correct? I only find one part number for the carb box which also makes me think they're interchangeable. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in!

Its not in the carb mounting, the difference is the intake boot and the thickness of it when it comes through the carb box. The one for that style that Randy has offered you is thinner. Randy is right, its in the thickness of the intake boot mounting hole in the carbboxes. If you switch intake boots with the wrong carb box you will get an air leak. The number of the early style carb box is 0100, the older is 0102, which to my knowledge is not written on the carb box. All you've got to do is remove your carb box and put this one on. Or get your dealer to order you the right boot. I'd personally switch carb boxes but its up to you.

The one you have is 1122 121, and the one in the manual is 1122 120. What the difference is I dont know, but yours will fit.

The one I've got has got the 121 number, and the 066 ipl has the same number for it, 1122 120 0102. But mine came off an early non comp 066 so it will fit, what the difference is with the numbers I couldn't venture a guess. Intake boots are the same though.

I've built up two 064s but can't for the life of me remember which boot/box I had. I know I'm using gaskets and the two ring setup rather than the shim. No major signs of a leak on either one, but I don't know how noticeable it would be.
They're both using Bing carbs, and both are upgraded to the HD filter.

Thanks for the info guys! I've sent Randy a PM about getting the carb box. I'm also looking for a new filter base and filter cover to convert this to the HD type filter if anyone has one on a parts saw.
I started cleaning and tear down tonight.. I'ts going to clean up nice!
