Cool old Pioneer barn find

[Mendocino Redwoods]

I was giving this saw by an old timer literally straight out of his barn. It seems to be complete and has some compression. I don’t know much about these pioneers other than I always thought they were the coolest looking old chainsaws, has lines like an old car. I know there’s atleast one guy on here with a certain name that would appreciate it

Looks complete,should be an easy resto, the 600 was the first year then the 610, all parts interchange between them.

Looks good, it has a kickstand and the glass bowl is intact. I have been eyeballing a few on e-bay and that one is in much better shape than the others. Definitely worth working on, restoring and adding to the collection!

It’s amazing the glass bowl has lasted! My plan is to get it running but then wall art for the shop. I’ve seen some of these on EBay but usually not this clean. I’m cleaning it up with some dish soap and water, even just with that I’m seeing a little bit of paint specks coming off.

Good to know, the tag says 610 but the cylinder cover says 600. It must have been replaced at some point. Now that I have it I’m trying to read up on em

Do you know if they originally came with wooden handles?

The original starter handle would have been a more conventional T shaped rubber handle.

I was able to add this 620 to the collection recently. It needs a lot of TLC...

Cool to look at, not so cool to run them in the woods 8-10 hour days, those saws are not light, close to 30 lbs barred, chained and full tanks of liquids.
