That's the life I dream of.....I can stall my MM660 with two fingers lifting rear handle 18"B/C. :(

Yes good old Aussie hardwoods even the stuff we call soft like stringy will do that .

Yes, but you live in a country of stone wood and where every animal can kill you!

Oh come on it's not that bad it's only about 80% .
I suppose it's 100% if you're a dumb mother fugger

The 500 pulls the 36 fairly well given the circumstances. Not like a 661, but definitely better than a 461 in equivalent form. It feels like a wet noodle though with a 36 as far as the handling. But it works.
It definitely allows snow and moisture to get to the air filter, but I haven’t had any issues regarding that.

Would an outerwear help with that?

I heard that someone is coming out with heavier av springs for the 500i.

I could see why you went conventional falling them uphill, or so it looks. You should roll with a GoPro and film some of this stuff!
It’s a really slight incline, and I think it is more efficient and productive in this situation. It’s not steep enough for anything to run back unless they slide on old logs or something.

Pretty much every timber faller in this area that has a 500 complains of the AV, and the running characteristics/ fuel economy to some degree. But nobody disagrees that it has a lot of power for how light it is.
And the running characteristics is basically just referring to how it doesn’t seem to run at full rpm when say cutting brush/boring and what not.
It’s pretty nice to have such a light saw be so capable though.

so basically hopefully you won’t be completely wrecked by the time you’re 60 with the lighter unit?

I appreciate @CLEARCUT honesty and realistic opinions on his findings on this saw in a working environment. Focuses on not just the good, but talks about what can be improved. Great thread.
