Dan, I owe you an apology as well and a few other members. *f-word I still am reeling over as to what this amounted to. I almost can't believe it. The *f-worder is good at ripping people off I'll give him that, must've been doing it for quite some time. He is seemingly "charming" at first for lack of a better word and gives a good deal and lures you in. I should have heeded the warnings but stuck with him as I thought it was the right thing to do to a supposed friend.

It's not the first. I had my first few cylinders done by him and had the exact issues we're seeing here, all posted on AS

How much for a fully assembled but not ported 394 ?

not much point in assembling a stock saw... for me anyway. fully done 394's should bring 500+ assuming good mechanical shape. but its fairly rare I assemble a completely stock saw.

I like to look for complete saws... they are fairly rare to fine one that is truly complete. usually a bunch of stuff is missing lol.

It would be very difficult to prosecute him for his work, as we are a sub culture that is not fully understood by others, but if he is making physical threats to people, that is another story. Law enforcement will respond to that. Retain any evidence of threats, and perhaps a collective complaint would bare fruit.

I don't want it ported, but if porting brings you more cabbage, how much would you sell it for if it was ported ?........ but please don't port it

I'll consider paying the ported price for an unported saw.

Well, I feel the need to give a huge shoutout to @Moparmyway
He has, very graciously, reached out and said he will replace this cylinder, and port it properly. I am quite speechless and humbled by the generosity, to fix these jms abortions.

This 066 was my first ported saw( well, stihl my only) lol.

Thank you so much for you generosity, and hope I can help you in some way in the future!!

Just asking the question, but do we have any proof or evidence of this alleged activity?

Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Negative.

I think there are a few guys here that are familiar with the behavior though. I'll include myself in that group. I've got twelve years clean this year. I got clean at 41 years old.........and started using at 12 or so. I know a thing or two about dope and the way it makes a man behave. If he ain't stung out........I'll kiss your ass.

I hear both you men and respect your posts. [emoji106]
I am very happy for you Randy. That is awesome. [emoji2]
We all know one can't convict without concrete evidence. I was just asking if anyone had any evidential proof. Just my years of OJT showing through.
I think he has issues no doubt. I hope and pray for him that he addresses them for his own sake.

The more I read, the more I realize we have too much in common. And I believe from what I've read your assessment is spot on. :(

How come it took this long for owners of this guy's saws to check them themselves or have them checked by someone else?

Blind trust in the builders skills, fear of finding out the port job is/was not as promised/advertised?

I am no builder/porter, and I don't own any ported saws - but I am nearly shocked what passes as a port job in this guy's builds.
I also wonder - do his saws really run better than stock ones before they come to a sudden screeching halt or are they all placebo?

No disrespect intended!
I am just wondering as I follow these threads.

My sincere apologies if anyone feels my post to be offensive!

I don't own any JMS saws and won't. I can relate though. When I first got into saws I wanted one that was ported. Found a really nice 10mm 044 and sent it to Ben Olsen as his AS posts and youtube videos looked real nice. It took a long time to get that saw back, had to talk to a parrot(#### you not). He admitted to screwing the oem cylinder up and was trying to find me a oem replacement and port it. Got the saw back and it ran great, it could be tuned pretty hot for some cant racing and out ran a few other nice 70cc saws. I had no reason to open it up and look, fast forward several years and I crushed that saw with a large oak, almost cried like a baby. The port work looks like a 5 year old did it, thought to myself, "that pos kept my saw for a year and sends this back"). Needed a replacement and did much more research on who to use, Kevin(Cut4Fun) pointed me to Mike Lee, got a 440 that he did. Got a 361 that Randy ported also, needed some diagnosis before hand that he hooked me up on.

Moral of story, the saw may run good and give you no reason for a inspection until it locks up. Deal with a well known builder that will take pride in and honor their work. There are many here but I know Mike and Randy have treated me right and will go to them for any future needs.

The saws are a ticking time bomb. Which is why I'm rebuilding 3 of them slowly as I'm financially hurt from this bull *s-word. I have a lot to say. But to sum it up he can port a saw but he cobbles together *s-word and it runs like *s-word.... Wasted talent. Not to mention parts swapping. View attachment 83674Check out my nice 395 cases that were supposed to be painted and all good... HA yeah right. The huge chunk of the cases that broke out also located the pin that aligns the chain brake so the clutch drum always rubs on the brake band . I was going to just rebuild it off these cases but looks like that ain't happening. New case half is required. And I have barely scratched the surface in opening this can of worms. I am at least more than 400$ in the hole from shipping saws alone to that mother *frenchie and the saws themselves never ran right out of the box and always needed some bull *s-word part that was *frenched up. Nearly every single mechanical part you can imagine on the saws was wore out old junk that was cobbled together. Hell my ported 365 popped out his junk circlip and trashed the saw. Or the 394 that blew up the "brand new" crank bearings at NY gtg. Hell its never his fault either, always someone else's. I didn't tell anyone as I felt it would draw attention to him, I did it out of respect for him. Which I have no more. I have been waiting 3 months to get the *frenching 372 back that will end up probably needing a new cylinder  and it's always some excuse oh no money no time oh it needs this *freakin' part. *f-word you I don't have any money as a result of this *a-hole. To say I'm beyond pissed is a understatement. I have 2 saws sitting here I refuse to use as they will blow up sooner or later the question is WHEN. Now I have to pour more money I don't have into them to where it's almost pointless. I've given up on them. I was not going to say anything out of fear seeing how he threatened Julian (redbull661) and other members. I hope this helps someone in some way so they don't end up like me or many others....
That looks very familiar Mason. My 394 cases look about the same as yours.
Mine has a crack in it running along the bottom, and looks like it's been chewed on. When I first saw that crack I asked him about it. His response was "Lol, there are no perfect cases for those saws". The crack in my case doesn't necessarily affect the function of the saw, but just because it technically can be used, doesn't mean it should be sold to someone.

Agh that pisses me off just *f-wording reading that *s-word. It's never his fault is it????????? I don't use my saw for two damn cuts like he does I actually use that it for hours, I don't want some set of cases that his logging buddies dropped a tree on and ran no chain catcher for a million board feet.
