one of two things,
1 it was cut with an end mill in a mill and it came loose in the vice.
2 he used a wood router with a long bit.

No, No, that is additional swirl on the North end of the cylinder, and the problem is operator error, Dall was running it facing South!

Man, I'm no expert on this stuff, but that is some sloppy crap!

She is a keeper for sure, she keeps me straight and don't mind how many saws I bring home, she even drives me when I am tired to go get saws from time to time

Scott, what the heck was causing all the "popcorn" noise on half the saws he did??? Was it too much timing advance, or screwed up port timing?

Listening to that stuff always concerned me.

same cylinder. very rough finish, looks like a meat grinder. there are no machine marks on the base showing it was cut on a lath or mill.

same cylinder. I put a ring in there with the piston to show the difference in the tr port timing. it's hard to see, but there is about 2 deg difference from side to side. it also shows that the edge of the port was just nipped at the window.
