another jms cylinder. much different finish in the ports. if he has been doing port work or 20 years then his finish would be the same. or the work was done by other people.

I have been wondering all afternoon if Mason was going to say anything this time or not. He was here earlier and read the thread but hasn't had the balls to say anything.

I am amused that the only post he "Liked" was Jacob J correcting Randy that it was indeed the correct coil...

Please be nice to Mason, he's a good kid.

Do we know jason rebuilt that bottom end? Or did he just use a cruddy bottom end and haphazard slap together a top end?

2 things I take away from this. I have ttaditionally build my own stuff because I only trust myself to build it the way I want it. I don't build perfectly. ...most of my saws shoe back up on my doorstep from some stupid mistake. Live and learn.

2 ... buyer beware always applies. I have said this elsewhere....I've got no tolerance for people that don't do their homework and or ....have someone look at the item (saw or otherwise) that knows enough about it to make an educated decision.....before making a dollar commitment that is significantly outside the norm. Ie... 1500$ for an 064. ...seems outside the norm to me.

Ported saws are the worst. ...because who is to know what's worth what? I wouldnt expext warrantee with anything ported....

You buy it.....your stuck with it. Imho.

Just for reference. ...I have ...since November ...had 9 powerheads with Jason.

So....let's not going accusing people of not having the nuts to say something. I still have ongoing work with Jason. And frankly. ...it's not in any customer of his's best interest to say anything bad....until it's really bad.

Jason's work will sink or swim on its own....

For what it's worth..his grinding is prettier than mine.

The saw was supposed to be a completely rebuilt, powder coated, all OEM, beast of a machine. The owner tells me it did run well, but didn't oil correctly. It has about two hours run time on it since he paid 1500.00 for it.

You make me laugh lol

No wife = happy life.

Except for randy.
A MALE FAIRYTALE
Once upon a time, a Prince asked a beautiful Princess,
"Will you marry me?"
The Princess immediately said, "No!"
And the Prince lived happily ever after, and
rode motorcyclesand dated thin, long-legged,
full-breasted women, and hunted and fished andraced cars, and went to strip bars and
dated ladies half his age anddrank whiskey, beer, and Captain Morgan, and
never heard *b-wording andnever paid child support or alimony, anddated cheerleaders and
kept his house and guns, and ate spam and
potato chips and beans, and blew enormous farts, and
never got cheated on while he was at work, andall his friends and family thought
he was friggin' cool as hell, andhe had tons of money in the bank, and
left the toilet seat up.
The End.

Flux core mig, my bet.

IDK, the inside the muffler mods... Not sure if leaving a baffle jagged, a bad weld, or a bunch of nuts on a bolt would make a saw run any less. As long as it held together. But it is the kinda stuff one needs to take care of, cause it's an area that would bring ones attention to the builder's general attention to detail.

Not trying to defend the builder here, but how would the pitted crank make the saw run poorly? I can't say it's correct to use in a saw that's NOS, but what is the worry with it? Is it that the large end bearing could have pitting as well?

Al the muffler on 661 is stainless and unless he used stainless wire to do weld deflector on its gonna look like dog *s-word
I have a crank with rust and pits in my building if anyone wants to examine it

Actually just wondering about a rusted crank, and how it would affect a saw. Not trying to defend the builders actions.

As for stainless and mufflers, I didn't know that part. Looks like flux core mig. Don't think they make gasless stainless mig wire.

Certainly ain't TIG and don't look like Trimix and stainless wire.

Matt another thing it doesn't *f-wording matter how Jason got the carcass he built from he should have taken it apart and put new bearings and gaskets in the saw

Another thing you are saying is if you can bubble gum up *s-word and no one sees it everything is ok ?

At work we use pulse arc migs for stainless I don't think I've ever seen stainless flux core wire

Usually the gas for the pulse arc migs are a helium argon mix

Yeah, trimix. Argon/helium/CO2. Can have O2 also.

I forget now. One for spray and one for short circuit mig.

That's why I tig all small welds, one gas to use.

Come to think of it, stainless can be autogenously welded. Don't always need filler.

That's a outside cover I see them sold on eBay so why let something like that pass through or atleast buff it off and get the right welding material
