I purchased mine new, and pulled apart the arm bearings, cleaned and greased them, eliminated the end play and havent had any issues yet. That was a few years ago

I will start by posting pics of my first "decent cutting" ground chain....the chain in the back a brand new out of the box RM 3/8 chain...the chain in the front is the chain I ground....

The angles I used were 30 top plate, and 55 side plate and "0" tilt.....

I found it very odd that the angles that stihl "recommends" is 30 top plate and 75 side plate....I put the brand new RM chain up to the grinding wheel and it looked like to me that 55 degree side plate was a lot closer to the factory chain than 75.... any thoughts on this... do different brand grinders use different angle settings????View attachment 41135View attachment 41136
The 75 degree recommended angle is for hand filing
That's a nice set-up.... ya eventually I may get a CBN wheel... has you used you CBN a lot yet.... I know they say they last a long time!!!!
I have just got my 1/8" and 3/16" CBN wheels and they are so, so nice. They don't produce as much heat by far and I don't have to clean the chains as much.

Just finished reading all 68 pages. Found the super jolly on sale for $370, but noticed this one with a larger motor. So I got it. Got a Baltic CBN on the way also.

Let us know what you think.

The motors on the full sized Oregon / Tecomec grinders are more than adequate.

Some people like the ability to grind both Left and right cutters ‘from the outside in’ with the Maxx, without reversing the wheel.

Lots of preferences.

are those good grinding wheels?
I have only had it a few weeks so I'll give it a bit longer before giving a decent review. So far, I'm in Australia and they have been excellent to deal with. Contacted them to check a few things and they have been helpful and sent through some good info.

One thing I will say, the finish they leave is not what every mention I have found online has said. It's pretty rough, but it hasn't had any effect on the chains cutting ability or durability. Speaking to them they are aiming for a balance between cut rate, wheel life and finish. The wheels are mostly used on their auto grinders for harvesters and they move quick, so they aim more for that than polishing the cutter.

What it looks like. Keep in mind that's zoomed in, to me just holding it up it's fine but I know some people look for that super smooth finish and these wheels will not give that.
