Can't read it, but it looks similar to the Dynasaw . . . they might have engraved other names into their products, or other companies may also produce the ventilated wheels.

Hey thanks, yes I can't make out the engraved writing either, but we will know by Thursday lol...

I will let you know, I am excited about it, the guy called me today as he was packing it for shipping...he said he only cut wood on his property and he said he doubts the machine has 10-15 hours use on it....so if that's the case this grinder is in darn good shape....

Well guys I got the Stihl usg yesterday....the guy was an honest man, everything was there and it really does look like it was only used a little but by a homeowner....

I put her together and mounted it by my Oregon....I did use it a little, but it will take a few chains to get used to it, everything is completely backward from the Oregon....

First impressions....as stated this is a very sturdy and quality made machine....I really like the settings...once you set the angles on head tilt, top plate, and depth adjustments, there is hardly any unwanted movements...it is a very user friendly machine also, everything is easy to read and adjust....

Now I don't feel it is fair to do much of a comparison since I only did 2-chains for a customer last night....after I get used to the USG I will do more of an in depth review/comparison of the 2-grinders......I did use both grinders on the 2-chains last night to compare them a little....it is obvious that the USG has better build quality.....the thing that i really like on the USG is the vise and the chain stop....the chain stop is such a simple design...I can't believe Oregon doesn't incorporate the same type of design...I will also say the the Stihl brand stone wheels are very nice, they stay cool even with a "bigger" bite...

I will end with this....BOTH grinders are qood machines in my opinion...just like with a hand file, the operator will determine what the chain looks like...give a good operator an Oregon or USG and he will give you great cutting chain...

Well, I just got paid for the first time grinding chains for a local fella. I'm not looking to make a business out if this, just maybe help buy new wheels and fund the hobby. Below are some before and after pics.

Hey man god job!!!

That's funny you say that, that is excactly what I did/do.....I paid for both my CBN wheels from diamond inc from grinding gbpeople chains....

Funny thing is the wheels still cut/look like they day I bought them....if you don't have CBN wheels, seriiconsidwr them....no stone dust, no shaping, no dressing, and the shape always stays the same...you do have to hit them with a cleaning stick at some point, I am no we're near that yet...must take 100's of chains to get these clogged!!

Probably thousands if you sharpen clean chains

Pitch from conifers tend to clog these wheels, but my CBN wheel cleaned up on its own after I sharpened several clean chains

With my old oregon i could get a sharper cutter if filed after i ground ,but with my usg ,the stone is different ,it actually feels sharper off my grinder than my file for some reason ,i use weird angles though for round 40-20-20 , 95% of my chains i just do square on the silvey ,i like the smoothness of square ,not as grabby cutting .Here is what my round looks like off the grinder .
Hey I meant to ask you a few questions....

1. Did you feel that Stihl s"Reccomended" grinding angles were to grabby???

2. Do you dress your Stihl brand wheels lightly every chain to get fresh abrasive???

The Stihl brand wheels seem great so far, only done 2-16" chains so far, so can't form a good opinion yet!!!!

Is your CBN from diamond wheel...have you ever used the white cleaning stick???

I used to clean chains frequently, but I will admit i have slacked off lately....if I get a homeowner that has roto-tilled with the chains, and I am in a hurry sometimes I don't clean them...

Yes Sir, my wheel is from Diamond Wheel. I have yet to use the white stick and I've probably sharpened 2 or 3 hundred chains since I've gotten my wheel

40 30 15 will be a sharp chain ,i found trial and error 40 20 20 is a little more durable and still pretty sharp .

Well I found some metal boys...this is why I gladly keep the safety chain everyone says to throw away...I use these "throw aways" when I think I could get into something nasty, and boy did I........I assume it's galvanize or aluminum!!!

It's a Stihl RM 3/8 safety chain...pretty bad guys!!

When I grind a safety chain, it leaves here a cutting chain.
Safety chain is only another word for " liability case"
Any chain can become a cutting chain.

I don't remember if it was from me or the prior owner....it's a good chance it was me....I also use these "freebie" chains to do my experiment angles on.....

yes it will cut when correctly sharpened.....they may not be the best, but I will continue to keep all I can that are in good shape....they are good chains to try new angles on or use in dirty/harsh conditions....

Sometimes a less aggressive chain is better suited for certain saws.
I put 91vxl on a poulan top handle. Thinking I was gonna impress the guy on how great it would cut.
Boy was I wrong, the saw could hardly pull it and it was way to grabby for that saw.

This ^^^^^^^

Is why i use conservative angles ,and less hook a faster spinning chain will work better than one that bites too hard and bogs the rpm's ,Guys that tell me they take the rakes down on a new chain make me shake my head sometimes ,at least on the chain i run it worsens the performance and dulls it quicker .
