I've never heard of that before. I guess if you think about it you really could use any size as long as it's not too big Maybe the 1/32 of an inch would be better on new chain? Due to the height. No clue on this one

The difference between 13/64 and 7/32 is minute. We're taking .015 difference in diameter here.
Some guys like the slightly bigger 7/32 when the tooth is longer and switch to 13/64 when its past its half life.
You'll get a slightly more hook with the smaller file but it's really just preference.
