Nicely said my friend.

I have no intending of letting anything or anyone slide by on my watch. It's the after effects of this process that I would like to work on.

For instance, we really don't need 25 pages of busting BBR's balls. Personally, I could care less about any YouTube personality. But those who like to watch that stuff surely get tired of seeing us talk down about them.

In the future, we would like to get this stuff reeled in sooner, and off the front page.

No....this ain't me getting soft. It's us trying to keep our forum alive and growing.
This doesn’t pertain so much to BBR, but moreso to the Kenny situation. I believe those threads need to happen in public, so the nonbelievers and naysayers can see it happen. If you did it in p.m., you’d be explaining things 500 different times and still have doubters. But maybe limit it to 48 hours and then delete the thread. That gives current members time enough to read it and make their own opinion, and won’t turn away new members beyond that. There will still be plenty of “bad egg” references throughout the pages of the forum for newbs to see.

As far as BBR, we’re foolish to try and drag those personalities down. Folks are watching that stuff because they enjoy it. We aren’t going to ever able to convince them that they shouldn’t be enjoying it. People watch what they watch and read what they read. All we can do is help make good decisions for the members on here, and not give two *s-words about how someone else makes their fame

Fellas. In the interest of having less negativity on the site, this thread will soon be getting locked. I spoke with Matty, and asked him to please start a new thread about his 288XP covers. I'm hoping he can post a thread that has links to his covers....and his excellent case splitting tools, without any mention of any YouTubers. Of course he is busy at the moment drilling into people's teeth.....but said he would work on the new thread this evening, or tomorrow.

I would like to take a minute to talk about the forum, and the direction it has taken. First off......I take full responsibility for my part in creating a negative atmosphere. As they say, the fish rots from the head.

At the beginning, I thought it best to allow things play out in full view of the membership. It seemed that having transparency, and allowing anyone who wanted to to express their thoughts and opinions would be best. I will be the first to admit that I might have been wrong about that. Threads like the Kenny thread that were just recently locked probably should have been shut down much sooner. In hindsight, maybe starting it in the first place was wrong.

I just hate to see anyone taken advantage of, and always wind up being tipped off by someone to bad behaviour. Usually I am already sensing that something ain't quite right about the individual. Then other members confirm it. When this happens I try to take some time to vet the accusations, but once I'm sure that yes.....this did in fact happen, I've always called it out in public. To date....I've yet to be badly wrong about any accusation I've come forward with. BUT.....I think in the future, I'll do it privately.

These threads are not a good look for OPE. The moderation team and I are going to try to do better.
I couldn't agree more Randy, and I hadn't read this before I called you earlier. I can see you get exactly what I was trying to articulate on my call.

Well said Kevin…only thing I’d add is let the lynching (i.e. Kenny BS, etc) go for a 7-day period. Some folks are days in btwn reading/posting/playing catch up around here.

I agree but would add, explain the situ and layout proof for all to see, then pin and lock it, people do need to know, however people also don't need to hear how every last feeler in internetdom is being felted at that moment in time/space.

Ok, so along the lines of what Randy mentioned... about things going forward...

Ultimately I think this forum is good for 2 things.... helping folks learn and grow, and #2 ...holding folks to contracts.

With regards to bbr, I didn't have a contract with him, and sending him a saw was a hail mary no question. I was hoping that it would be good enough to make some kind of a splash enough to get the word out about top covers. more or less it fell flat. i'm dissappointed but life goes on.

with regards to the forum going forward, the contracts thing is important. i DO think folks need to be held accountable for fraud / breach of contract. ie, kenny had contracted to do some work, and 8 years later there's only excuses, not action. IH had same issue sorta... when he was called out instead of just simply "writing the check" and paying away the problem, there's tons of excuses. chainsaw jim ... kinda same problem. TL, excuses. JMS, excuses and zero humility. This forum IS IDEALLY suited to holding folks to CONTRACTS....not necessarily to ideals. same as ebay, if there is no contract, then the default is to side with the buyer. if there is a contract, then hold both parties to it. Folks that are here and have been around for a while enjoy the comfort of doing business with trustworthy people. that trust is earned. once broken, that person is out. simple, and maybe with less drama.

speaking of that... i've now got a bunch of top cover orders that folks have placed that I MISSED!!!!! the orders are somehow in my junk folder in outlook. possibly for months. ugh, i'm on it!!!

at the end of the day, these are just my opinions and how I look at things. i hope we can all get along and play nice going forward. i'd love to continue sharing what i've learned...which comes mainly from reading these forums lol. I'd also appreciate being able to keep doing business with folks that can be held accountable for breach of contract.

Thanks Randy for the work you've put in. I'm willing to keep doing the work going forward if you are!

I get it. But that’s one of the things that drives folks away, both new members and old.
