Special thanks to @Glock37 for the powder and @rattler for the port work and final assembly. This 288 was months of work in secret to surprise bbr in hopes of promoting my 288 high top covers.

Thanks to @srcarr52 for the welds / case repairs as well on these 288 cases.

I'd be a little disappointed if I was you, he didn't promote your cover at all unless I just missed it.

The 394 sounds ported to me. Even with a muffler mod, a stock jug doesn't sound that "clean".
It was polished/cleaned up, according to him but no timing wheel sorta work. I'm thinking it was probably similar to the port jobs Madsens did in the 045/2100 days.

That could be it. If someone went through and cleaned up all the imperfections, it would definitely sound better.

It reminds me of those early 2100 cylinders that had no bevel on the exhaust port - it makes a very "crisp" note, similar to the early 064s.

That 394 is hot to trot, I don't care what he says. It's far too crisp.
Side note: I'd buy a black 288 that hot and clean any day of the week.

It's ported to some extent to my ears
and keep in mind it has a obnoxious twin fingered
Muffler on it
Both are strong saws.

He actually talked hi tops down quite a bit....

Yeah... this didn't go exactly as planned. We shall see what he does with it though. This was a hail Mary on the top covers. If I dont get em sold then I cant do other projects....plus I'm up against getting steamrolled by the Chinese making their own tops soon. So there's more at stake here than a 288. Oh well. Hope he likes it and breaks it in.
