Thats close to $380 USD! Thats craziness. Its like they don't want you to fix your saw.

That's exactly what they want, unfortunately. Our local Stihl dealer was a friend a few years ago, but he hates the fact I fix some of my coworker's saws for free.

A few months ago, a friend brought his 1 YO saw to the dealer's shop for a supposed air leak, they told him it was done, no more comp (but they don't even have a compression gauge!!!), probably scored. He gave me the saw, I put my gauge on it, 170 PSI on a 1 YO 461. I just replaced the clutch side crank seal, and it was done.

I sware, If I hadn't a wife, a kid, lots of good friend and a nice house, I'll love to find a logger's job somewhere in the USA. Not only for the saws prices, but for your f-in' great craft beers!

And I'll love to cut one of these giants tree in Oregon or California!
We has the moonshine here.

Was the cylinder that the bottom ear broke off similarly ported to this?

I'm surprised to see someone remembered this one. Yes it was the same, from the same guy. But the port work was far better.

Edit:

I just found an old picture of the 1st one I got from him,

That's what I thought... I didn't remember that one being butchered in the ports. I actually know the porter but have been able to get in contact him for a very long time. Your saws.... And I'm in no way trying to imply anything about you by saying this... Are the only ones I've seen with issues. It's just odd and sad/a bummer.

We do have some fantastic beer here, a German gentleman that was passing thru when I owned a restaurant marveled at the quality and variety. Big timber everywhere here captain but glad you love your home, friend.

Nothing bad to say about the 1st one, it was a great runner, and trust me, she put a lot of trees on the ground before the failure.

I know the guy had health issues when he built the 2nd one, shagging hands, etc... And he told me he lost a circlip on the original cylinder when he tried the saw, so he had to port a new one. He just didn't took the time to do it properly.

You can see it, and we can only look at pictures, but I'd be mighty tempted to run it. Even if I had to bolt it on an old bottom end.

A few years ago, my godfather meets the co-founder of Stone Brewing co. They were looking for a place to open a brewery in Europe, unfortunately they choose Berlin... But at least we have some good US craft beers in some stores, and most of time I just brew my own.

Ya his 346s were known to run very well!! Same porting in the 1st cylinder and second obvious from the blending pattern in the lowers. Possibly he was trying to teach someone to take up the port work under his instructions? I think Id clean it up alil and run it also

It was my 1st tought, it's the reason I bought some burrs for my Dremel, but I really don't like these notches between the uppers, I think they're accidental but I'm scared to catch a ring in them.
