Change of plans, the Forester full chisel skip gets beat up in the dirty wood I'm cutting so switching to a semi chisel Oregon skip.

No clue, I never used semi skip. Also this will be my first time trying a Semi Chisel, Full Skip.

Well for me , my eyes aren't what they used to be for square filing and when it only comes in square ground it feels weird to round file it...

Most people do not understand it. They assume that it is for folks who can’t decide between full comp, and full skip chain.

I have some semi chisel skip. Archer was the only manufacturer I could find it from. I emailed archer plus inquiring about it a couple years ago.

it was not available at that point. About a year later they emailed me back and said it was now available. They sent me a loop for a damn good price. Thing is I haven’t tried it. I wanted it for some stumps at the time but ended up cutting them low with some old 404 chipper chain.

Speed is not the deciding factor for me here.
I cut anything from dirty old pine and ash on the ground to fresh tulip poplar and pine and it's on my own property so no hurry.

I'll be cutting stumps too and some ripping of larger stuff. I'ts just hard on the chain.

I'll probably sell the EA5600 once done with the clearing/cleaning of the lot.
Won't have much use of it after that, my battery saw should be all I need then.
Same for the Husqvarna 340 and the Stihl 020 AV Super

I haven't purchased it in a while, I'd have to check. I bought it round and square filed it. LOL
It was Oregon.

I mean I'm not sure I understand either.

I just wanted something that is simple and fast to sharpen and clears the cut well.

Would I have benefited more from a semi-skip than a full skip?

On semi skip You'd have 2/3 of the cutters to sharpen instead of 1/2 the cutters a full skip has compared to full complement - You are most likely better off with full skip considering fast sharpening.

In terms of clearance, at merely 20"/72DL there will be next to no difference whether You use full complement, semi skip or full skip!

There was testing done by @Redbull661 a while back. Semi-skip was faster if I remember correctly.

Of course, different folks use different names for things, but each line shows 10 drive links:
'Full-House' has 10 cutters per 10 drive links (last cutter is, . . umm . . cut off in this illustration);
'Standard' has . . .5 cutters per 10 drive links;
'Semi-Skip' has . . 4 cutters per 10 drive links (or 80% of Standard chain);
'Skip' has . . . . . . . . 3 cutters per 10 drive links (or 60% of Standard chain);
'Cutter-less' has . 0 cutters per 10 drive links (a.k.a. 'drive' or 'power transmission' chain).

I was down at Cape Charles, VA for a few only to return up north to 100 degree weather...
