What I've read on here is all correct , nobody is really doing anything wrong . It's all good and whatever you feel best about how you do your break-in isn't going to hurt your saw .
I do disagree on the notion that you only get one chance to break it in right . The rings , bearings and all moving parts will break in eventually depending on how you use the saw . Generally 10 plus tanks for most saws will do it but some less and some more....it's all good guys !
I will add that letting the saw warm up some before throttling up is definately a good thing to do regardless of if it's new , broke in or well used :grazy::wave1:

I make no argument one way or another for a right or wrong way to do any "brake in" . There is something that might be interesting to take into account ...came to me while doing some PDI work on 2 saws today. I take the plug out to check it before i fuel and run any new saw . You can see it has been run a little on a test rig to do the factory test to make sure it is ok (iv seen the video of the production going on) . My point is....there is a high chance your not starting from a "Totally " un-run situation whatever the make of saw...different if your putting a new top end on your own saw i guess.

I'm not sure I can believe that it will break in eventually. I've seen motors that never really seated rings and showed blow by. From large v8 to saws it effects them different but the same

If you're running the saw and cutting it's going to eventually seat the rings .
Only time I've seen rings not seat is when a back yard mechanic re-rings an old engine and the cyls are out of round from wear.
Friction and wear happen in any engine no matter what it is .
