EDIT: I was going to do the math to see what the actual displacement was, but I don't know what the 365/372 stroke is.
Tore down number 2 it's the first big bore i built.
Looks great inside of course saw 1 took all the abuse lol
Two 372 bb ft pistons one double one single compared to the 272 ft piston.
I don't have an accurate enough scale.
But a lot lighter.
Shorter height shorter pin.
Much less material.View attachment 89468 View attachment 89469 View attachment 89470 View attachment 89471 View attachment 89472
No spitback at all on the 268 saw.@Terry Syd Idk if you have the stroke #s for 362/372 are all 36 mm or for the guys here in the states 1.417".
From what (Hutzles web page the 272 piston is 123 grams) from (Metor) 272 is 40.5 mm tall and stock 372 is 42.5 mm tall have you seen any spit back from the carb with the 272 piston? do you have any intake #s the reason Im asking is I did a bb p&c on my 365 sp w/bg delet I have .021" squish 100*ATDC 123*ATDC & 73* BTDC now with a shorter intake skirt from the 272 pistion from my cal would give me 83* BTDC Im looking for more bottom end grunt and dont want to go to far on intake I know some will go 81* BTDC on intake.
Thanks for any info you have. Have read 51 pages and lots of good info
All 4 are full mix and oil no leaks.Slight change of question here....I seen the pup and it makes me think....... Are your saws (Chinese 365's) house broke????? Mine leaves a big puddle everywhere it rests!!! (Bar oil)....
It's hot here 90's but about 10 degrees cooler under the canopy.
I ran 2 tanks through saw 1.

Damn good ring is starting to seat. How did it run Dave?
They run so good I'm hesitant to mess with them.Bummer about the screws. One of the things I learned about the Chinese saws is that the quality control isn't very good. They are probably put together by low priced labor that doesn't have any mechanical background. I go through them to make sure that everything fits right and is tight - I always find something.
Thanks for posting the picture of the pop-up. I always wondered what the flow patterns were over a pop-up piston. They aren't as disrupted as I thought they might be. I was surprised at the pronounced 'tongue pattern', I thought the angled rear transfer ports would have eliminated most of that.
Have you thought of filling the bottom of the intake port to reduce the intake timing with the 272 piston? It seems the lighter 272 piston could be the better piston in the big bores, but the increase in intake timing could be an issue.
