Tore down number 2 it's the first big bore i built.
Looks great inside of course saw 1 took all the abuse lol
Two 372 bb ft pistons one double one single compared to the 272 ft piston.
I don't have an accurate enough scale.
But a lot lighter.
Shorter height shorter pin.
Much less material.20170923_080928.jpg 20170923_081916.jpg 20170923_084538.jpg 20170923_084608.jpg 20170923_084701.jpg

Out of 1.5 272 cabers used the supplied ft ring.

Feels good and idles smooth.

Doesn't bog easy may be my new favorite lol
Vibes definitely less much smoother.20170923_131235.jpg

EDIT: I was going to do the math to see what the actual displacement was, but I don't know what the 365/372 stroke is.

@Terry Syd Idk if you have the stroke #s for 362/372 are all 36 mm or for the guys here in the states 1.417".

From what (Hutzles web page the 272 piston is 123 grams) from (Metor) 272 is 40.5 mm tall and stock 372 is 42.5 mm tall have you seen any spit back from the carb with the 272 piston? do you have any intake #s the reason Im asking is I did a bb p&c on my 365 sp w/bg delet I have .021" squish 100*ATDC 123*ATDC & 73* ABDC now with a shorter intake skirt from the 272 pistion from my cal would give me 83* ABDC Im looking for more bottom end grunt and dont want to go to far on intake I know some will go 81* ABDC on intake.

Thanks for any info you have. Have read 51 pages and lots of good info

No spitback at all on the 268 saw.
I only have one tank on the 272 saw
Feels great so far Haven't checked for spitback on it.
I really need to take all 4 cutting.
To have the most accurate comparison.
Between the 268 272 and 372 and 372 big bore saw's.
The 268 has been my favorite so far
But the other's are not even really broken in.
Might borrow a stock 372 to compare as well.
And I've been told the 064 piston can be used in the big bore but i don't have any.
I like how these run
Anyway.

All 4 are full mix and oil no leaks.
One saw rides in my jeep 24/7
No problem.
I have a dolmar 115 it will empty the tank after a few day's.
Have to lay it recoil down for storage.
Oddly after a few months of sitting my echo 590 takes a dump lol
Doesn't leak a drop then bam empty.

Thanks Dave, I was thinking it may be isolated as no one else has mentioned it. Time to try a new oil pump and check line. Seems to be leaking out of the adjustment screw on the bottom.....but that could be just gathering there. Oils good and as it should when running.

How did it run Dave?
Damn good ring is starting to seat.
4th tank feels in the 170s.
Easier to start 2-3 pulls 4-5 before the pop up.
The added comp helps a lot was around 150.
Thirsty lol
I put the original carb back on it to compare against the 272 pop up saw.
It's a high strung saw now so i run it fat.

Catastrophic failure.
The added comp broke my pull rope lol.
I like this true blue rope I've been through a couple of rolls of it.
No breaks.
Needed to clean around the coil and recoil anyway.20170930_130403.jpg 1506791686270-2015777594.jpg

The 268/372 started pulling bar oil in but only on felling cuts quite impressive smoke cloud like a locomotive lol20171007_155656.jpg 20171007_180735.jpg 20171007_162822.jpg 20171007_185430.jpg .
Turns out the case bolts had loosened after all summer of cutting.
20+ gallons through it .
it has the brittle black case gasket it broke away over time.
So i tore it down for seals and a case gasket.
Bearings feel new so they stay.

Bummer about the screws. One of the things I learned about the Chinese saws is that the quality control isn't very good. They are probably put together by low priced labor that doesn't have any mechanical background. I go through them to make sure that everything fits right and is tight - I always find something.

Thanks for posting the picture of the pop-up. I always wondered what the flow patterns were over a pop-up piston. They aren't as disrupted as I thought they might be. I was surprised at the pronounced 'tongue pattern', I thought the angled rear transfer ports would have eliminated most of that.

Have you thought of filling the bottom of the intake port to reduce the intake timing with the 272 piston? It seems the lighter 272 piston could be the better piston in the big bores, but the increase in intake timing could be an issue.

They run so good I'm hesitant to mess with them.
Maybe on the next big bore.
Still no spit back on either one.
Can't say for sure about the bolts i checked saw 2 and the case bolts were tight only the inner spike bolts had come loose before on saw 1.
I hate that type of brittle gasket.
With Something more plyable i could've just tightened the bolts.
These saw's are so easy to work on those saw kits would be great for a beginner.
Internals and clutch oiler etc.
Looked great I've cut a lot of wood this summer very happy with it.
