Found said 82cc kits. Sent another email to the parts guy and we will see if he can get them here. He deals a lot with shipping from other countries.

I don't know much about it yet. Going to have to read up on what it takes to get stuff from Australia and China to here.

It may end up costing more than it is worth... I hear it can cost hundreds to ship one saw, so two would be twice as much.

Maybe a partial 20 foot shipping container of them would offset the costs enough. If we are to get these 82cc copies, we will get plenty of spare cylinder kits as well... no point in doing only half the stuff in one shipment.
If you're planning to sell some of those it may be better to get the 272 they were more popular here where i live at least .

Definitely going to work as hard as I can to get 268/272 copies... I would much prefer those as well. But as in most things in life, it's hard to guarantee this.

Even with that, I will also work to get a few 82cc kits for some to try. We need to know if they bolt right onto the 365/372 case... there may be some grinding on the case that has to be done to accommodate the larger transfers. The kit looks okay in the picture, but pictures don't give you everything...

How many 82cc kits do we need? Anyone else in line for these?

Supposedly, this SX82 saw sold in Aussieland was engineered with a new design 54mm cylinder and piston kit... so no small transfer problems like a bored out 50mm or 52mm jug... however, I cannot find the 82cc kit on alibaba... I found plenty of 50mm and 52mm kits.

If I order from down under, I will be sure to get at least one SX85 saw for test purposes. Only thing is finding wood big enough for it... like 24-36" oak or ash.

It's going to hurt to hear how much it will be to ship a saw. I'm thinking of having UPS put a few into a shipping container for a partial load. Start with maybe 6 saws and 15 cylinder kits. Or if we need more due to interest, then once I have a long enough list of people interested in this, I can organize a full 10 foot container.

I'd much prefer just getting the cylinder kits only, and the 268/272 saws. Like a 40 foot container of those copies... then I could be called a hoarder, lol.

o_O They want me to order 50 of these things... saying 10 is too much to ship for so few. Any potential investors that want to get a shipping container of them?

We're talking about 268 copies...

Should I start a group buy thread?

Well, this supplier is giving me a break of 50 saws, down from 100 MOQ. 100 is too much to start with. Maybe we should get half 268 and half 272? This supplier makes both. I mean, if we get 50 of these in here... think I could sell a lot of them.

Just a matter of clearing out room in the barn for a pallet of saws... or more likely, two, maybe three.

I better clean out some space for this business prospect.

And how do I become a seller here? Like Randy (MM) I have to pay a fee, right? I don't want to wind up banned for trying to earn a couple bucks.

I went looking for the 82cc big bore kit here in Oz. I didn't find it (I'll keep looking), but I did find one of those 82cc 365/372 clones for A$195, delivered.

In US$ that is $153.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-MTM-...336960&hash=item58f8be634a:g:kMIAAOSw8FtZgmdY

My 77cc big bore already cuts well enough for me, but if I was a bloke who didn't want to pay A$2,000 for a big saw from the Stihl or Husky, I'd pick one up. Crikey, they even have a two year insurance option on these Chinese clones.

Have you any experience with the 268/272 clones.

No, I bought a 365 clone.

As far as bore size, I found this add for the 82cc piston. It states the bore is 52.85mm.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Piston-f...980438&hash=item2807b8c9a8:g:7NEAAOSw2D1Zh8Ua

It is a better designed piston that won't require the work like a 77cc piston to get it to flow, but it isn't 82cc. Looks like Chinese marketing, but I'd get the '82cc big bore kit' over the 77cc kit as it looks like they may have addressed the transfer flow issues.

EDIT: I was going to do the math to see what the actual displacement was, but I don't know what the 365/372 stroke is.

It looks like this is the piston for their old sx82.
I don't know why they didn't change model numbers

Here's a webpage for Husky in Oz. The 576 (73cc) is the closest thing to a modded 365 (77cc). As you can see, A$2,000 won't buy you much from Husky, but you could get 10 Chinese saws for that price.

After seeing how good these saws can be i'll never have to buy oem again and i still have three not broken in yet.

Math on 52.85mm bore is 79cc... so they fibbed quite a bit. However... it probably still has lots of potential for more power if someone wants to spend some time working over the cylinder.

And it may be possible that the redesign of the saw may have yielded an actual 54mm bore. No way to know for sure until we get replacement cylinder kits on hand.
