Yes they are using a single jet Farmertec carb. There ok but unmoddifiable.
Chinese carbs came on the saw's but appear identical to the ft/huztl.
I've used dozens of chinese carbs
In repairing customers saw's and trimmers.
I did have one stihl 180 carb that didn't work.
I've changed the spring to the oem in a few if it had issues.
I did that to one of my 372s and it's been fine.
I have over 12 gallons through the first saw no carb issues whatsoever.
And probably a gallon or so through the other 3 saw's no problem.
All the new stihl carbs I've bought are Chinese no issue's.
I've worked on dozens of zenoah clones earthquake/bluemax etc.
Over the years and the carbs might need a kit or replaced occasionally.
Just like oem carbs.
Although not able to mod these they do a damn good job.
Especially for 11-15.00 lolView attachment 76448 View attachment 76449 View attachment 76450 View attachment 76454

Thanks guys, can get a farmertec one here for less than £20 so I think I'll go that route, not that bothered in modding the carb, quite happy with a muffler mod and base delete atm. With a 268 piston in the pipeline. Thanks I will try one. TBH I have had no problems with any farmertec parts I have ever had.

Cheers guys, have a good day!

Are these kits available in the uk
You might like messing with them.
With a little help from Dave, my kit came out great. I may be lucky, but no defective parts really. I had to do a little work on the clutch drum, and that was it. My kit was a 372 hutzl.

The full saw kits?
Yes they are. The 440's 372's, 380's and 660's

Currently having a wail of a time with my new to me 262xp. Digging deeper under the covers and I realise it needs a lot of work. Want this 372 to be a bit more dependable so that I can start tearing into my other saws. I kinda like the sound of the ms440.

I think you would be more than happy with the 372 kit. The fit and finish is pretty nice, and it runs great.

Nice thread, I was going to remove the cylinder skirt (case match the jug to the case) as you have done. But I decided against it as I didn't want to reduce the case volume. I have been told by numerous builders to 'do it' to aid transfer flow and to 'not do it' as it reduces the case volume. Have you noticed any power increase, or is there nothing to test it against?

I don't have anything to test it against, and I went for it right from the get go. I should have probably ran it all stock but oh well. It runs really good, and I have no complaints. I'm running a fairly aggressive 24 inch square filed chain on it, and it pulls it nicely.

I can't give a definitive answer on cutting the bottom of the jug.
I used six different cylinders by feel it helped the topend more than it helped with torque.
It's new to me i had never cut them before these saw's just trying everything most of the builder's agree on.

I would've just bought 440s or 380s
A 70cc saw is all i use 90 percent of the time.
I already had a lot of 372 part's bars chain's etc.
so i bought these it worked out great for me everything is interchangeable .
I'm still on the first saw lol

The spring came out of the pocket in the recoil on saw 1.
No damage so i bent the spring further into the pocket.
Six revolution's tightened it up and fixed it.
The coil area picks up a lot of trash from all the sawdust and dead ash I've been cutting even pressure washing doesn't get it out the recoil has to come off20170703_194904.jpg 20170703_184121.jpg 20170703_190407.jpg .
These Allen bits are handy from ebay 3.50 shipped.

I haven't had to adjust the chinese20170703_183753.jpg carb since i put the cut down 268 piston in.
Cleans out and 4 stroke's as soon as it touches wood.
It's still a little rich but the pistons clean.

Here is the first round of pictures, there will be three more in my next post. The last is the pièce de résistance. The stuck on serial number plate is my favourite.
