Maybe the JB weld burns like a solid fuel rocket motor and gives extra umph?
Heck. The crud in the exhaust gases might even help glue a loose muffler back on!

The beat up muffler was not going to cut it with powder coated cases so I decided to fix it's lack of a screen holding apparatus. I'll also add a nice deflector over the enlarged port and mod up an AM dual port front cover for it. It will all get fresh paint, not nice enough for powder.

That's what happens when quality is first. You find crap others miss.Gift that keeps giving. Two more really fine cracks welded that appeared once I got it hot enough to cause the oil traces. There are a few more fine ones that I’m going to have to leave as they are in places I cannot reach.
Even winged the last one a bit.

I can’t weld them mufflers worth a shít, the Stihl stainless ones.
They seem to blow through the moment a puddle forms. @Moparmyway and I were discussing it. What’s the deal Shaun, is it the cadmium coating that causes the issue? Can it be blasted off?

What models are those? I don't think I've tried welding on them yet.
It probably is a coating that melts at a higher temp than the base metal, a quick hit with a sanding wheel should take it off.

I've got a few 661's that I've welded Joe's stainless deflectors on, used 309, worked very well
I believe the 261 and 462 have a different coating on them, maybe the newest ones from the others do too. Looked to be both inside and out ............... I think I might have to get a new muffler to try

Can we even get 462 mufflers yet?
I see no AM and none for sale used.
261 you would think could be AM cloned by now.
Not actively looking for saw work but people keep asking for modified mufflers to bolt on but won't do their factory one on the saw. Gave up for now myself. Plenty of others to do soon.
