That’s a messAfter pulling the bar stud I noticed it looked like it had been welded on the end of it. I expected to see a welded on backer floating around in the oil tank but nothing... no sigh of what would have been a pretty ingenious repair. The JB weld didn't stick at all.

Typical red shmoo.

Someone was scared the flywheel would slip?

Ahhh, that's why... no key because it's a single keyway flywheel being used with the unlimited coil.

As soon as you see the initials....
You know what the pics are going to look like, everytime it's the same.

Did you measure squish in all 4 corners? I bet it’s off big time. The porting off the cylinder is very nice, clean lines, great chamfers and everything matches well side to side. The timing numbers are very similar to what I use... but the squish clearance was 0.047" with the goofy thick gasket and permatex shmoo covering both sides, wtf!
I'll get the cases cleaned up and welded maybe this week. The flywheel is taking at trip to Cuddle Lane to get the proper keyway broached in, and I'll use a the compressible steel gasket for the base which should get the squish to just a touch over 0.020". It will be a very strong running saw.

These are something like .010 off the base and the band in the lathe after the belt sander attack. I had to go further, don’t have the exact amounts on me right now.

Must have been one that he had someone else do the machining on...
