Here is one graph from today I got the ok to share.

Wow those two couldn’t be more evenly matched by the looks of it. I bet whatever one had the better chain would win cutting. Very cool. When the readings go a bit erratic after 11-12k... is that from the saw settling down off of four stroking and being loaded?

The spike is the clean up transition.

Spikes, then settles into the power. The ones that are tuned closer to the "max" don't seem to have as much of a spike. But max power is pretty much the same.

OK, somethings up with this 372 engine. Notice how the torque drops off and then picks up again. I suspect a resonance issue somewhere, probably in the intake system.

So, the 10hp mark has been crushed, chewed up and spit out.

15hp mark is too close to the currently strongest tested saw.

Any chances a one man chainsaw can hit 20hp or close to it?
I am thinking souped up serial production saw, not custom built motorcycle engine saw.

Just curious.

Thanks for all the effort that goes into this! :beer-toast1:

The husky 3140 racesaws on alky wil hit the 20hp and more.

The stroked 661 is a worksaw.

Yes they will, put a pretty good hurting on 20hp especially on pipe...

Looks like for the time being, unless the owner/operator is present.

Going to stick with regular GAS fueled muffler saws..

Saw has to be able to be loaded minimum of 10 seconds. And should be able to do that 3 times with some idle/cool down between runs.

Much less than 10 seconds won't show very good data. Just a couple points is all you end up getting on a graph.
