I believe you have a typo on the blue line. We all know it, just sayin.
But why use .050 1/4 when Stihl .043 is way better? And it's pretty easy to take the engine out of them, like most Echos. There is a site called saw again where you can buy a complete Oregon 1/4 pitch for the 2511 if you choose. You can also get new Echo complete engines fir $130ish. I'm kicking around buy both. Have the new motor ported. Builders would appreciate not tearing apart the whole saw I guess.
I've never ran either so I have no idea if the Stihl chain is way better. Define way better? Turns the 2511 into a 50cc saw? I'm actually very happy with the echo 3/8 low profile .043 narrow kerf I'm running. I get zero chatter with this set up. I am curious about the 1/4 pitch and the oregon is a complete kit.But why use .050 1/4 when Stihl .043 is way better? And it's pretty easy to take the engine out of them, like most Echos.
i dont think we’ve seen a torque curve yet that perfectly resembled a piece of chit. id love to see itNo idea how long this will go on...but I’d like to see what my old raffle Chainsaw Jim ported/rebuilt ProMac-700 (son’s saw) would look like. It’s been at my BIL’s house for some time now, he lives several counties away. But nonetheless, would like to see what it’d do on the dyno one day. It’s a strong saw no more than it’s been used.
Yes, 3/8 .043 is excellent, and the fastest cutting I know of, but Stihl 1/4 has tiny teeth, while the 1/4 .050 has huge teeth. The Stihl .043 is very smooth, but you'd have to decide for yourself if it is better overall. Also Stihl bars will last much longer than oregon.I've never ran either so I have no idea if the Stihl chain is way better. Define way better? Turns the 2511 into a 50cc saw? Good to know. Thanks for the info. I'll probably stick with what I'm using then.Yes, 3/8 .043 is excellent, and the fastest cutting I know of, but Stihl 1/4 has tiny teeth, while the 1/4 .050 has huge teeth. It might just surprise your ass...i dont think we’ve seen a torque curve yet that perfectly resembled a piece of chit. id love to see it
I think this has gravitated to ‘talking *s-wordt’ now...Chainsaw Jim is a damn good porter and saw builder...he simply has a many months-long, gravitating to a year or two problem...finding the local PO.A piece of chit? Sometimes....unfortunately.
My comment had nothing to do with saws or Jim.I think this has gravitated to ‘talking *s-wordt’ now...Chainsaw Jim is a damn good porter and saw builder...he simply has a many months-long, gravitating to a year or two problem...finding the local PO.
