Glad you enjoyed it my friend. That’s how I felt when I got my 288...lol! Couldn’t get enough of it. Been using it as my primary felling saw lately and I’m becoming obsessed with it all over again. Running a 28” bar with a 7 pin, I’ve come to prefer it geared for torque and it never disappoints :D

Hey @dustinwilt68 ,

I can use a 394/395 clutch on my 288 correct? Almost certain I can, just double checking with the resident 288 guru.

Edit: more important question is ...how are aftermarket clutches? Worth a try or junk?
Hey Josh I can answer that one! Yes you can! I got one for my 281 but as you know not yet running!

OK, ignore my pleas. The local guys FINALLY said they MIGHT be able to find me a top. I went ahead and told them to order it. Until today they've just flat out been saying no. Yeah, it's not too promising, but it's the best I got to go on. They are asking 25 plus tax. Much less than I've been quoted from the UK. Wish me luck.

Update...nearly a month later and they are still waiting. Blah.

Did I mention my 281 was French?

Thanks Dan, I thought so. Just wanted to confirm before making an order. My old school clutch spring is whooped, gotta replace her.

Stop working on your stihls and get that 281 roaring!!!! Lol!
