@ Adamski, That's a Wet Dream, a Swedish G.I. issue Husqvarna Saw,,, didn't know that Such a Beautiful thing existed. Prior to a couple pages back, of a member who posted A Complete " Kit " in it's transport container... and buy 'your' pictures that Through Colored Plastic, Not Just a Rattle Can job !!! Fantastic, out of curiosity I wonder if they made a 'G' version ???
Bud

It a genuine mod saw issued to the British army in 1986. Seldom used too by the looks of it, also has the giant case for it too. [emoji108]

What's the top plate say?

It’s back with me as of this afternoon. The side service tag says 281, the base coat of the case is green through and through. So it’s a genuine MOD case. The top cover yellow plate says 181se, I dunno if this is a MOD plate or if it was a Husqvarna plate from factory. So there is a little disconnect, I know that Husqvarna has an overlap of parts between saws, maybe this is the reason or the army stuck a 181se cover on as the 281 cracked? The plastics/tank/recoil/top cover are all injection moulded green, no paint on these and the clutch cover is once again a green base coat, green top coat MOD through and through. It all seems legit.

So I have given this MOD 281 a good overhaul and check over. Spotless piston, chain brake band is broken, all other parts are in smashing condition and nice and clean as of yesterday. New 28” bar and chain.

I’m giving it a good work out this weekend to check it over and retune it. Can you still get the metal flag brake bands?

Wow. I didn't know Mahle made 281 top ends. I always thought they were all KS. That 281 will wake up big time with a more open exhaust. The jungle mufflers are very restrictive. A new chinese replacement from EBay should have no baffle. I think HUtzl have em, too.

I did this, because, well, metal handbrake. So it's not gonna burn through it. But this one is ported. In fact, it now wears a mildly ported 288 top end. SO lemme know if ya need a spare ported 281 K&S top end that is super high compression.

Alas I’m impulsive and bought this back to aid my impulsive friend buy a 54” GB bar and ripping chain for his 3120.

I don’t really need it and I’m guessing it will be pretty close to my 365 with trans covers ground (aka 372xp) or.... is it worth keeping for pure bragging reasons and porting and using?? I forgot what it’s like to pull these over too [emoji23]

@Adamski , Do you have a Ruff Guess as to How many of those British 281's made it out into private hands ???
Thank You, Bud

Not a clue, but they are as rare as hens teeth. 3 have popped up on eBay in the 4 years I’ve had search’s setup. And 2 of those were not complete green saws and the other one is in my garage.

I can’t imagine the army had many of these anyway, I’m thinking it would only have been the Royal Engineer regiments that would ever need them.
