Randy, you're not supposed to fix those seals. Husky has them coded as "non-serviceable". You're just supposed to let the saw blow up. :applaudit:

I brought this up at the recent Jonsered tech meeting. I had just re-sealed the covers on a 2172 the day before. Told them we should be able to order those parts; o-ring, covers and screws. So, here's the answer I got: Nope, they are non-serviceable and are not going to be available. Just file a warranty and we'll replace the top end.

Not too happy with that answer, I said "So what am I gonna tell the guy whose saw is out of warranty?" Long pause. Then he says, " Yes, we hear you and we're trying to get that changed." So, this should get better at some point.

It's dealers like you that give me hope.

:)

I can't see what the logic could be attached to that response …Finically it makes no sense to replace more than is needed under guarantee , so that is even more baffling. Surly they have thought this through and come up with some practical/logical reason why its NOT the policy to replace a rubber seal..It will leave a VERY bad taste in non guarantee costumers . I guess you will have your hands tied as to the guarantee work even if you can come up with a fix.

They are already modified. But I have some good used seals.

Randy, which of these popular sealants is similar to silicone, texture wise? And which are similar to motoseal?

Dirco, the Stihl sealer would be best probably....

oh my friend, perhaps you have not been to the "corporate dance" ?
that's where the "big wig" executives decide that its much easier to ignore the "tech" side of the company for the "finance" sides bottom line concerns.

What does the "field tech" know anyway ( no offence Bob @Spike60 )
have you seen their country club memberships...sheesh most play at public courses anyway...can you imagine taking executive advice from someone who plays "public courses" ?

the nerve of these "techs" calling us out in meetings.....

off with their heads !!!

Brand new saws........never started. But.......they were both 2014 models.

Go ahead. They are wonderful saws. The 2015 and up have had improvements to the transfer seal, base gasket seal, and the intake.
Dam. Is it warrantied?

Shameful...thanks for the info Spike. Wonder what motivation there is to make the convenience of removable transfer covers so inconvenient for us. Unavailable seals, tamper torx screws...they just don't want people in there. Cough cough EPA:monoloco:

No sir ! iv not been" in" the corporate world myself. I dare say there are many eye brough raising things that pass for normal within many companies world wide let alone in the "Electrolux" organisation ! Personally I feel Husqvarna do themselves , and the dealers no favours not addressing ,or at the very least explaining the reason to the gentlemen at the sharp end the logic behind the current decision. Correct me if i am wrong ..but .. the dealer is the face of Husqvarna so can help to keep the companies reputation and the purchasers loyalty. On the face of it the seal seems a easy fix and as Randy mentioned , has after 2015 been addressed ???? so the early ones are just left hanging in No Mans land ! Odd in IMO

Many dealers cannot deal with an AT saw and do whats they are suppoesed to be able to do with them plugs, leads, programs and computer thingie. Folded over case gaskets and transfer orings half installed are the least of their issues.

Nothing in the Electrolux corporation makes sense. Been dealing with 2260 bucking spikes packaged wrong for a year now.... Still not fixed. 2260 full wrap handles packaged wrong, they finally fixed that one but now they are coming through painted silver instead of black.

Have had a couple 2172's come thru with the carb bolts not tight. And a 2260 with leaky trans covers.

Yeah, I have a set that doesn't fit my 2260. Let me know if you get to the bottom of that one :BangHead: I would love to figure it out.

Sounds like a great product line to have to stand in front of..........
Order a wrap handle sometime for a 372 or 372xt. They show on the ipl as they come with bolts and the upper a/v....In the last couple weeks I have ordered a dozen handles... Only one showed up with the hardware included.

You the one I owe spikes/refund too?

I keep getting strung along on the spikes. They call to tell me it's fixed so I order m more and they come packaged wrong still. Husky even sent me one for "free"....... What is one free set when I have 8 sets that I paid for that are wrong and the free one is wrong too.
