I recently started working on my first hybrid and have a question about the proper way to mod the outside of the cylinder to make it fit. Does it matter if I grind a bit off each side without measuring or will I have a problem with the cylinder sitting square or true to the piston? Also, the same question for the bolt holes, just open them up or will I have issues?

Yep, sometimes me brainy no worky. All this time I had a damn template (the gasket) and didn't even think about that.
Thanks guys, I'm loving this new site.
Need to do quite a bit of grinding on the outer transfer tunnel to clear the flywheel, especially if you machine the base at all

and a shameless plug - this will make it easier and a cleaner build
Jeremy designed and prototyped it and Mike has them CNC water-jetted and powders them, all I do is profit :)

My saw definitely won't look as good as yours, that thing is sweet. All my saws look like underdogs but definitely don't sleep on them.
I'm gonna port this one but will probably run it before the port work so I get a feel for where I'm at.

I believe the hybride like different timing than the non hybrids, and they generally rev pretty well but don't usually have the torque of a ported 460.
Not really. I used the same numbers for both. Case capacity ends up having more torque in the end.

Raise the compression to around 195 and also raise the upper transfers to 115, you will love your hybrids for a very long time!

My hybrid is blowing just over 200psi comp. The numbers I used in mine are 102/118/78.

Ms460 jug and a meteor piston with caber rings.

It pulls a 25" bar and full comp 3/8 chisel really well.
4 strokes wot at 14200rpms.

The saw still isnt fully broken in yet. I've only been able to run about 3 tanks of fuel through it so far.

I would modify the oiler if going longer than 28". Glad to hear you like it.

I believe his #s for the 044 are a little different, although I always request that he focus on torque.
