100/116/78 and it would 4 stroke to 16k easy.

The numbers I used in my current hybrid were recommended buy another builder.(102/118/78). My saw IMO works great. Has good speed, throttle response make decent torque to pull a 25" bar. I really like it. Great work saw. I like it a lot.

Now what I'm wondering is what would I expect to see using the numbers you mentioned? My next hybrid I'd like to see as more of a gtg saw. I'm planning on using it with an 18"-20" bar.

What's your thoughts?

This one did fine with a 25". For playing in 10x10 I might go 95-96 110 and 75 with epoxy. I run higher exhaust than a lot of guys. It's my preference and makes a little lower compression.

The 046 jug I've got coming has already been ported. I don't know what the numbers are yet but I will definitely check them before I do anything. I don't want to mess up a good thing.

I think I'm gonna order a couple extra Pistons to "chop" up and see what I like.

I generally like to go OEM, but the Meteor piston I saw for the 460 had wider skirts, which will give you more latitude when porting.

Do you have such a hybrid? Did you port it yourself? Any vids of it?

Thanks.

I do all my own porting, I have 4 hybrids, built the first one in 07 and improved upon them somewhat by 2010, they have almost replaced my beloved 044`s. Randy can tell you where the numbers I posted came from.

You only posted one timing #, but it is the same # as on one of my favorite saws!

I've set 460s at 97-98 and 114. They still pull a long bar just fine to me. Full comp on a 110dl bar is a load for a 76cc saw.

I run RSLH on my 36" bar. I'm sure it could pull full comp, but this seems to work well and should clear the chips better.

Have you tried a low intake on these? I generally don't run this low of intake but I like 100/116-117/82. Something about these saws seem to like a low intake. Guessing it's the small case capacity feeding the top end. :)

81 is as far as I went. You start loosing some push for the charge with less than 30° of case compression.

@juttree when you are porting the intake on the 046 jug there is a small "bump" inside the intake runner. Be careful when grinding on that spot. The material is very thin and you can easily make a hole.
I found out the hard way. I fixed my screw up with a bit of JB weld.image.jpegimage.jpeg
