I could tear into the 395 again and check some stuff and port it. I was happy with making the most of the junky AM p&c in my 2159. I am always short on time though and I’m sure @Stump Shot could do better with vastly more experience.

Be glad to get it to singing a different tune for ya if you like.

I run a 36” 8 pin 404 on mine and it rips.

It was ported by Moparmyway Kevin. A ported 066 I have here can barely pull the chain through wood.

They are a spectacular big saw. But, they are BIG.

My 395 will oil a 50" bar just fine and balances neutral with a 36" Tsumura or Sugi lightweight. Ported they are in a class above most of the old 7 cube saws of legend. I sold my ported 088 & 880 as my ported 395 did everything they did and weighed 5 lbs less.

I'm perfectly happy with a 36" bar. I haven't found a single job where I needed anything longer. Even this could have been done with a 28" just as easily. 20190509_101634.jpg

If your 395 is struggling with a 32" something ain't right. I ran the 395 Mason showed at this years NY GTG and was blown away. That was the first 395 I've ran.

Nice bar.

No idea why. I just think they're cool

That is a top notch bar. I'd buy another if I could find one. That bar came from @Jon1212. Evey heard of him? I heard he sold all his bars and saws so he could fit in with the hipsters out west. Probably smoking hippy lettuce too. Such a shame...

Thanks for all the input gents! @Redbull661 I’m set on 42” if I jump up. I went through the saw last year, thread here somewhere. Decent compression but maybe carb or something isn’t right. She’s old for sure. I don’t have anything to compare it too. Well, except for running some ported saws at the NY GTG last year...I remember being impressed but memory for feel ain’t that good.
What's the chain look like, sharp? What's the angle?

Mine is stock it eats everything I throw at it without a struggle. I know guys running 50 and beyond Cannons with ease. Cutting well enough they don't want to pack an 880 or 3120.
My ported 395 ran a 50" every bit as well as my ported 088 & 880, so they went by-by.

I'm going to chase the 60 Cannon with a 660. It handles the 40 in near stock trim with 117dl full comp chisel....chisel matters here on this underpowered rig. Ported it down to the butterfly of the carb and it made a big difference. No shaft work and did very little to the venturi. Testing stuff again. The jug/saw is all bone stock gasket in place, so far it does ok with skip on the mill and full comp round in big hardwood. Just yesterday was the second time I got to run the 066 with a 32" Sugi lite. That was nice and smooth with Archer off the roll round 105dl. Posted the saws and pics in the "trees you cut" thread. Blurry but oh well. Both with full round off the roll. The 32 was much more user friendly setup imho.

Only reason I bought a 3120 to wear that 50, I did not want to play musical nars, being a pain to put that 50 setup together. And I did not want my 2101 or 395 to sit and not be usable. I knew my other saws could handle it and I'm certainly not man enough to run the 3120 all day:)

Wonder what ever happened to that feller.
