I like the look of that 056 being the mag 2.. I just wonder if I should just bite the bullet on the extra cash to get a good running 390 and go that route.. I don't tackle wood this big usually, it's about the biggest euc trunk ive seen here in AZ, albeit it's a fairly small tree compared to others.

Honestly if you do get a bigger saw ,it is possible to get a 20-24" bar for it. Then you have a saw in your normal rotation and if your healthy/ young its not really any different than other saws.

That's what I did. I had a 2188 (390) and a little top handle saw. With a muffler mod and an oil pump mod I kept 3 bars on hand: 20" for most stuff, 32" if I'm mainly cutting 24" and larger, and 42" for the rare occasion.

20170519_124052.jpg I later chunked that log into manageable sized blocks using the 20" bar after cutting it into rounds with the 42". The 20" was fast, but that's a ton... 5 tons of wood to cut up, and it was medium/low density.

Nice work nutball.. that big trunk is close the size I'm dealing with here on this euc, and it just makes me giggle a bit trying to imagine myself going at it with anything less than 85cc and a 36" bar..

The 056 mag ii is a big balled, purple eggplant bucket list of a saw that would handle just about anything you encounter and mill too. I.......want.......one.
Fix the 280 before trying to stump with it. Unless you WANT to burn it up. Block the stump down with the Dolkita like Kenny said. It might take longer, but won't need more equipment except some extra chains for WHEN you hit metal.

It may already be spoken for, but here is an MF'n tree nighty fife in the for sale section.
