I'm looking to go longer bar for bucking and firewooding large diameter stuff more than felling. Short fat Live Oaks, pines, Euc.

I would say if it works out quite a few people would be interested in 42-50” stihl 088 mount. Spot welding the inserts together to each other wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.

The 42" Oregon was listed just above ninety bucks on Amazon.

I can try out the 12mm mount on both big Stihl saws and put it to the test on a long mill cut in oak. Old milled hardwood brings out the best and worst in chainsaws and their accessories.

Thats the best bang for your buck, still, the last new 42" Oregon bar I bought still had a fair amount of slag on the rails I needed to grind off or send it back with me losing time and postage.

I got a few bent bars from them. The missing paint deals are always nice and cheap.

Anyone else interested in 42" lightweight if I decide to do it? I have a machine shop.
Filing and rakers are the majority of the battle. If rakers are to low and hungry, or teeth not filed well or full, it will bog down anything. Full comp skip whatever that saw should handle big wood with ease.
