Yeah it’s on the list of things to order!

Another thing you need to put on the list is a new muffler. That is an E-tech saw and it came with a CAT muffler on it. Could be what contributed to the failure.

The 346 and 353 both received CAT's at the same time. 346's were much more likely to find themselves in commercial use, so CAT mufflers weren't a good idea there at all. Some of the rationale behind the NE 346 was that emission regs are stricter for saws below 50cc, so the 44.3mm kit put them in the above 50cc category. I think the difference is 50 g per KW/HR below 50cc and 75 g per KW/HR above 50cc?????

Already got a not cat muffler for it. Ordered up right when I got the saw. [emoji106]

Ok I ordered up a new 44mm top end for it. So this one will be done with new stuff. And I’ll save this one I have and look for a beater saw maybe to test out how long it’ll last! Ha!

Well finally got back home from working in SoCal for the past few weeks and had a nice little pile of parts! Too bad I don’t have anytime to work on for a bit. Back SoCal in a couple days... oh well.

Ok so I ordered the new OEM cylinder and piston and was getting ready to put it together and found this online.

Naturally I figured I should buy it and give it a try. So it just showed today. Gonna see how it works. I have a Dominant/Wiseco pop up in my 372xp that I love. So I hope this one is good too! We will see.

That’s a pretty slick lookin slug. Any chance you could post the weight compared to an OEM piston? Just curious

Well my scale isn’t that great but I’ll give you what I have. Looks like there is plenty of material remove to reduce weight. They do feel really similar but that scale shows a little heavier on the new Wiseco slug.

The Wiseco scaled in .1 kg above the stock one. But it was bouncing between same weight and .1 difference. I wish I had a better scale around the house. But I don’t. Just my ac refrigerant one.

I've come close to ordering a Wiseco piston a couple time, but just haven't yet. Will try one at some point. Would be better if it were lighter than OEM.

Yeah I agree. Wish it was more like the Dominant one I have for my 372xp. That thing is lighter than stock! But I figured I would try. Maybe I’ll grind some weight off of it! [emoji38][emoji38]

I would run it stock with no mods to the piston first. Then see what if any gains are had with some careful weight reduction. Nice score waiting to see how this piston works out. Remember they need to warm up very slow. Id idle it for a few minutes before you give it the beans.

Don’t let my query about the weight ruin your excitement for that piston. Sorry if I have you doubting it now. I don’t think it’s a big deal. If your scale went to a smaller gradient it might only be a couple grams difference. Think about the weight difference between the OE and NE piston, they didn’t change the crank at all to my knowledge and I’m sure there’s a much bigger difference in weight between those 2 pistons.

Oh I am not!!! I ordered this thing to try it out and hadn’t heard or seen anyone with one so I figured it was a gamble. No doubting here!! Lol. It’s not a huge deal on weight but I wish they would have thinned it down a bit just for a reduction in rotating mass. But I think the compression bump from the pop up will add more then the loss of power from the little added weight. Hopefully I can get it running here soon. Was gonna do a port job on it and just be done. But I might do a little at a time and experiment some to know how much increase I get.
