Good afternoon fellas. I finally had a chance to try out the RSP chain on my XS 2152 this weekend. I started with a freshly sharpened loop of Oregon 20Lgx (.325" x 0.050" full chisel with no bumpers) and it didn't want to feed at all into the Burr oak I was trying to cut. I then tried it on a red oak log and it cut great. Sooo I swapped on a loop of the RSP chain just for grins, and wow! The combo of the saw and the rsp was nothing short of ridiculous in that tough stuff. It took two tanks to block up both dead trees, and the chain was still cutting great to the end. I hadn't cut Burr Oak at all until this summer when I took down a monster next door.... I didn't notice an issue with that tree, but I was running chain that I had sharpened on the Simington. I'm going to have to see if I can even get the Oregon chain to be in the same ballpark as the RSP with a square grind, but I doubt I can best the rsp. As soon as I have enough funds scraped together, I will go ahead an order a roll of this stuff.

Greg let me know when you get the roll in I would like to buy a few loops.

When I was testing Mark's @Crocky28 T540 I had the nano vs sp21 both safety chains and I could not tell a difference.

Same filing on both chains, same husky progressive depth gauge on both.

Had some 7 year dry as a bone hardest species around me, both chains self fed very nicely.

Top plate was filed back a bit more aggressively than usual, that was to test the saw's ability to pull through hard wood.

Chips were as best as I could file her, .325 .043, tad bit below the soft setting, both bumpers filed.

Firewood, lots of knots that are not visible to the outside.

I rebuilt a little Husqvarna this winter and decided to set it up with .325 narrow kerf bar and chain to see if there was much difference. I have been cutting my own firewood for years using mostly 50cc and smaller Stihl saws with .325 .063 chain which is (or was) Stihl's standard. I got a Husqvarna X-force XF250 bar and loops of Oregon 95TXL, Husky SP33g and Stihl 23RSPro. The Oregon and Husky chains are semi-chisel and have extra bumpers on the rakers. The Stihl chain is straight-up full chisel. The Husky chain is marketed as low kickback ("safety") chain. The Oregon and Stihl chains are marketed as non-safety chains. As far as I know, Stihl is not marketing the 23RSPro as NK chain, but it compares well with the Oregon and Husky flavors that are sold as NK.
T-B and L-R: 95TXL, SP33G, 23RSPro, and 26RS Stihl .063 chain for comparison.
The 23RSPro is much narrower overall than the 26RS- about .020" as you would expect. The cutters are also narrower, but longer than the Oregon and Husky offerings.

First impressions.
I bucked up a green maple tree trunk about a foot in diameter.
The 95TXL cut very slow. Very disappointing. I will try sharpening the chain and check the rakers to make sure all is well and the chain didn't get banged around in the box before I got it.
Switched to the SP33G. It cut quite fast and smooth. Nearly as fast as the 23RSPro that I tried last.
I need to do more testing, but the SP33G impressed me greatly given it is a semi-chisel "safety" chain.
The 23RS zipped right through the wood like nothing, as I would expect.

The Pro chain is a NK ,
Yes it is.
I bought this loop of 23RSPro at my local Stihl dealer, but he didn't seem to know what I was referring to when I said narrow kerf chain.
It was just 23RS same as it always had been, as far as he knew.
Stihl has switched to .050 NK in .325 but hasn't made a big deal about it, at least not around here.

I always thought it a bit odd that they used .063 in the smaller, mid-size saws and .050 in the larger ones.
It would make more sense to use the larger gauge in the more powerful machines.
But, Jonsereds and Husky used .058 in their midsized saws for awhile too.

LOL, .058" is all I run (on my pro & big saws)!!!

Having issues finding .050" , also can fit .063" in only one bar that has buried dozens of .058" chains.

Funny how the "local" market differentiates like that.

Yea , not really popular, all .050 up to 28” and .063 anything longer,

I don‘t know your dealer set up, but around here it is a rare occurrence to actually find someone at a dealer that is aware and knowledgeable enough about current Stihl products. It is frustrating. I am then usually asked ˋwhat do you want that for?‘

I don’t know about the .50 I have never had a .63 325 chain get saw dust clogged in the bar like I have with this .50 stuff…

With the mention of .058 chain it might be of note that 48" NOS hard nose bar on the avatar saw is .404 ,.058 .That big bar probably goes back to the early 1960's .I might also add .404 in .058 is not that easy to find .
