Nice videos.

I had a ported 241 and ported 261, Sold the 261 and kept the 241.

The 261 was just and in between saw that didn't get a whole lot of use at my house
In a similar boat here but undecided whether to keep the stock 241 or ported 261 (haven't run it yet). The 241 gets so much done for so few refuels, but now that Manuka honey is worth about as much as gold, there are fewer tea tree block clearing jobs - which is where the 241 with 16" picco absolutely kicked arse. I'll have to get the 261 in my hands to see how the weight compares in real world use.

There are a few different bar/chain combos I want to try on the 261. If it can wear an 18" 3/8 .063 b&c with authority while still being easy to run all day all week, then the KISS mantra comes into play - I can standardise on one chain type (well, up to 42" anyway - thereafter it becomes .404) across three saws in the plan if I ditch the 241 and the picco it uses.

Will also try picco on the 261 (18 and 20" b&c) and if that is the best combo for it in our woods, and it is still easy enough to use all day every day then the 241 will go, otherwise the 241 will stay (or be replaced by a ported 241) and the 261 will go.

Had hoped the 261 would be powerful enough for the 3-saw plan to become 261/7900/395. At the mo, there's just a little too much gap between the 241 and 7900.

Decisions decisions. Can't really afford to have two wee saws.

Package is on the way
It's not an easy decision with these two saws, the best thing is keep both then you haven't made the wrong division

You may be right.
I may be crazy.
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for...

$20.70rrp but any who continue
Not at my dealer there $33 each no discount for buying multiples either. I wish Stihl Aus would stop pricing themselves out of the market, don't get me started on chain. All the tree service guys I know buy their saws out of the States and chain/spares online. They & myself wish it did not have to be this way one bit but its pretty near ridiculous. Most of the dealer business is to homeowners buying MS180's, BG56's and other homeowner products. I wish I could use the dealer network more as our 261's are 'made in Germany' saws unlike the States.

20.70 is straight of the price file and I will discount for multiples, rim prices are more then they should be I agree, $10-12aud for 1 and go from there I would see as fair, buy bulk and get cheaper. I have approached jakmax/pmd about 3/8 picco rims as stihl are the only ones who sell them. I have found some cheap rims to have casting dags in the spline, knock out with a round file and MCW had some they where out of round also. Durability compared to oem, couldn't accurately say as I am using a lot of SH .404 so can't say how many chains they last. Chain price ultimately comes down to what the dealer wants to charge. We don't charge any where near the rrp for 1 off loops let alone bulk quantities. Consumer machines have become a much bigger part of our business over the past few years with blowers, trimmers and small saws and selling multiple times more then we ever had

Gotta find out what works for you and do it.

3 saws. 4 saws. Whatever, as long as it works for you.

It appears Stihl is using the 'layed back' cylinder design on their new saws like Husky 5 series.

The fins are just angled on these. Stihl had the laid back cylinder years ago. I know the 031 cylinder was laid back.
