Stock appearance AM jug no boost ports, welded exhaust etc.

Only possible swaps I can see are. Oem carb, coil, clips, wrist pin bearings.

Saw should idle 1-2min before making the cut.

Keep it simple, keep it fun.

If someone wants to go wild with the kit, enter it I the 6ci class...

Yea.
No machine work either.
OE Carb or AM is cool
coil should be AM
Clips and pin bearing should be OE
OE and Ceramic crank bearings should be out.
AM pistons and NO CABERS!
NO OE pistons and NO Meteors
7 pin only

Most of the kit should be run if your really looking to "test a box kit."

I don't really care what the rules are. I'm going to build my saw in a box as is, get the bugs worked out, then port it and make it as strong as I can.
This is all about the fun for me! And hopefully I can learn something while I'm at it!!![emoji41]
This is the spirit I'd like to follow if I could port a saw. Awesome idea Dan!

Agreed.
If we build the same saw with the same parts then you will find who built the best saw.

I say if you want a prize make it so it's a raffle for those making an entry

You do a build thread and offer a saw then you get into the drawing for a mastermind t shirt. I say you can sand the base but can't cut the squish

After being in a bunch of these build offs I can assure you it doesn't work that way either.

What we will find out is what saw cut that cut fastest on that one day.

Best saw is not really possible to nail down. Too many other variables.

There's no doubt.
If we're trying to get as many involved as possible then it needs to be build what's in the box.
Will the new guy who wants to enter do it if there's no chance he can win?

I'm in either way but if we can do whatever we want then I think it will keep some guys from doing it.

What's in the box is a carb that don't work for chit, a chain adjuster that won't adjust, a wrist pin bearing that bound to fail, and a set of circlips that are soft as butter. You sure we should just use what's in the box?

KISS... keep it simple stupid. Think what your trying to achieve here...which may be 'what potential can be had out of one of these kit/box saws'. If that's the objective, make the rules accordingly. Once you let to many other options/variables in the mix....the objective changes. Don't stress Randy, many folks are into these kits or interested in them, imagine the knowledge that will be documented when all the builders really take a look at them closely. Great idea!

That was my point....hence why I should make the rules :)
