I have an 18 volt B&D pole saw. Batteries don't last long. is there an adapter that would allow me to to run it using AC extension cord?

I don't think you can find a ready-made adapter. Here are instructions on how to DIY something like this.

But there is no guarantee of success. Some power tools “talk” to batteries and won't let you start if they don't recognize the original battery. Although I don't think this is the case with B&D.

Personally, I would not opt for such a solution, because you really need to use a good quality high-current power supply, which will not be cheap.
Investing in another (perhaps higher capacity) battery seems more reasonable.

Another solution is to buy a saw that is powered directly from the mains. With such is the least problem in the long run, if you do not mind the cable and is rather powerful.
