with the price of an OEM coil, I see no other choice unfortunately
You can use an 066 coil, but you need to make a bracket to hold it securely due to mounting points. Secondly I had to grind the coil to shape so it had clearance from the flywheel. Works well, especially considering the 084 coil is unobtainium.
I second that. The one from Stihl is great.
I have one on my ported 111S......
You must pull with "Conviction" shall we say.
Last time I got some they were sub $5.......but I'm old. LolMy dealer geats them for me Tony. I'll get the part number for you. $7.35 from memory.
My 064 is running an after market 066 coil and I think its well advanced with nothing off the key.
Makes it harder to start and kinda angry...... but I like its attitude
Once can always take a bit off the key and retard the timing if its too nasty.
Nice work Vince.
Just looking at your photo of option A
I recon one could make a pillar from some 10mm aluminum rod and bolt it on from the back, rough up the base and the mounting point on the case and seat it in some JB Weld to help key it in so it doesn't spin.
Anything is possible. One screw holds it pretty good but vibs will get the better of it.
The other option it to screw a tab to the coil and use a packer to the original screw mount. Think I will go that option, don't have to mill the case that way.
Would someone in the states be able to get a price on a flywheel for me?
