96.5 isn't bad. 97 is stock oem. Still 120cc saw with plenty of torque.

Dropped all the parts in the parts cleaner and they were boiling away after a couple minutes

Most likely keep it stock. It's just a just incase spare as I had to use my spare on the blown one I did. [emoji37]
Yeah for the price it makes a good spare hey!
I'm thinking I may juts keep mine in the box too and use the OEM top end.

It needs a birthday

The aux oiler cable is still good so I now need to work out how to get the tank handle off without breaking it.

Time to consult the ipl

I think I will start another thread on it's rebuild

flip the plunger for extra oiling ( next to the start stop lever) over. it pulls on a cable with a ball end. then its like any normal saw to separate.

That's pretty well the limiter on them. That's why they're such dogs now. A coil swap to a 441 or 361 coil if I remember right fixes that. They should be limited at 13k and you wouldn't need to mess with them. Same with the 9.6k limited 3120s. They cut at the limiter the whole time.

Ok.so this is how a 660 coil sits in there.

Because the difference in the flywheel diameter, it needs to be tickled a tad on the ends. I just used a parallel burr.

I picked up a very low cost 084 today as a build project.
Its had a hard life, but I am not worried about looks on this one. I want to fix it up to be an ugly duckling milling saw.

I want to replace the clutch drum and oil pump worm gear with 088 units but have been told they wont fit properly?

Is this true or will they just bolt in?

Just want to find out before I spend the money

No mate they are very different parts.

The 088/880 has a system for the worm gear similar to whats used on 044/066
The older 084 has a different worm gear that requires a sprocket with 4 slots in it.
